Cardinals Minor League Notebook: 05/02/10

Palm Beach's Francisco Samuel is Saturday's Player of the Day as the Cardinals minor league clubs went 1-2 with a rainout.

Memphis (9-13) rained out at Nashville


Game rescheduled as part of a June 15 doubleheader.

Having slipped into second place on Friday, the Cardinals lost their third straight. Nick Additon yielded seven runs in four innings, including two-run and a three-run jacks. Blake King, Chuckie Fick and Matt Meyer pitched five scoreless innings in relief with seven strikeouts, but the damage was done.

The Cardinals came back from an early 4-1 deficit, scoring the winning runs in the eighth on RBI singles by Tommy Pham and Matt Carpenter. After the early trouble, Jared Bradford tossed four scoreless. Joel Pichardo and Francisco Samuel closed out the Hammerheads.

Starter Mike Blazek recorded just one out before surrendering four earned runs on three hits and walked three. The River Bandits offense collected just five hits, yet still scratched out six runs as Burlington pitchers issued 13 walks. It was just Quad Cities' second home loss this season.
