The Boston Red Sox signed Cuban catcher Adalberto Ibarra to a five-year $3 million deal.  Qbano34

Granma's Alfredo Despaigne was named the Cuban League MVP for the 2010 season.  Also listed in the following link are the National Series All-Star Team, All-Defensive Team, Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, and various Post Season Awards.  Many of these names could become the subject of future interest from the MLB organizations.  Baseball Cuba

 

 

Mexican Pacific League/Triple-A Mexican League

 

Yaquis de Obragon shipped Mauricio Lara (Puebla/Triple-A Mexican League) to Algodoneros de Guasave for Mario Valdez (Mexico/Triple-A Mexican League).  Mexican Pacific League Official Site

 

Tomateros de Culican is hoping Chris Waters (Brewers) and Mike McCoy (Blue Jays) return to the team for the 2010-11 season.  Mexican Pacific League Official Site

 

Employees are in a dispute with the Oaxaca Guerreros of the Triple-A Mexican League over wages.  This has caused at least one postponement this season.  If things are not agreed upon, this situation could cause the team to be expelled from the league until it is resolved.  Baseball Mexico

Former Cardinals


Dennis Abreu (Former Tennessee) has played in four games going 4-for-12 (.333) with one double, two runs, three RBIs, five walks, two strikeouts, and .416 SLG.  Liceo is 3-1 and second in the Beisbol Tradicional League (Venezuela).

 

Juan Lucena (Former Springfield) has played in four games going 4-for-17 (.235) with one triple, two runs, five RBIs, two walks, and .352 SLG.  Buenos Aires is 4-0 and first in the Beisbol Tradicional League (Venezuela).

 

Wladimir Mendoza (Former Johnson City) has played in four games going 5-for-12 (.416) with one double, one home run, seven runs, five RBIs, four walks, and .750 SLG.  Mendoza plays on the same team as Lucena and Sivira.

 

Jonathan Sivira (Former Quad Cities) has played in four games going 7-for-21 (.333) with one double, four runs, six RBIs, six strikeouts, and .380 SLG.  Sivira plays on the same team as Lucena and Mendoza.

Carlos Gonzalez (Former Johnson City) entered in the ninth (April 26) and pitched to two batters allowing two hits, two earned runs, and one home run.  Gonzalez entered in the fifth (April 30) and pitched 4.2 innings allowing no hits or runs, one walk, and struck out six.  Juan Mosquera (Former GCL) entered late in the game (April 30) and did not have an at-bat.  Panama Metro is 4-3 in the second round of the Panama League Playoffs.

 

Edgard Montiel (Former DSL) has played in 20 games (as of April 29) going 17-for-59 (.288) with three doubles, one triple, 11 RBIs, six runs, eight walks, five strikeouts, and five errors.  Managua is 31-21, first in the Nicaraguan National Championship Group B Division, and has qualified for the playoffs.

 

Fabian Marquez (Former Johnson City) has made seven appearances (six starts) posting an 0-6 record and 6.68 ERA.  He's allowed 35 hits, 34 runs (24 earned), 35 walks, nit nine batters, and struck out 32 over 32.1 innings.  The CB Viladecans are 6-12 and eighth in the Spanish League.

 

Gary Burnham (Former Memphis) has played in 15 games going 18-for-49 (.367) with four doubles, five RBIs, 22 total bases, eight runs, 12 walks, one strikeout, .449 SLG, and .500 OBP.  Godo is 2-13 and tied for seventh in the Italian League.

 

Ivanon Coffie (Former Memphis) has played in 12 games going 11-for-48 (.229) with one double, one home run, seven RBIs, 15 total bases, four runs, four walks, nine strikeouts, .313 SLG, and .288 OBP.  Grosseto is 8-7 and fifth in the Italian League.

 

Brian Falkenborg (Former St. Louis) has made 14 relief appearances posting a 1-1 record and 0.59 ERA.  He's allowed seven hits, three runs (one earned), three walks, and struck out 21 over 15.1 innings.  Softbank is 21-15 and third in the NPB Pacific League.

 

Edgar Gonzalez (Former Springfield) has played in 21 games going 13-for-60 (.217) with two doubles, three RBIs, 15 total bases, three runs, nine walks, and 20 strikeouts.  Yomiuri is 19-12 and second in the NPB Central League.

 

Tomo Ohka (Former Memphis) has made one start posting a 1-0 record and 1.42 ERA.  He's allowed six hits, one earned run, one walk, and struck out two over 6.1 innings.  Yokohama is 14-17 and fourth in the NPB Central league.

Jolbert Cabrera (Former Memphis) has played in 19 games going 28-for-75 (.373) with six doubles, one triple, one home run, ten RBIs, 39 total bases, 15 runs, nine walks, three stolen bases, ten strikeouts, .447 OBP, .520 SLG, and .967 OPS.  Oaxaca is 22-18 and third in the Triple-A Mexican League Hidalgo Division.

 

Hugo Castellanos (Former Memphis) has made 23 relief appearances posting a 1-3 record and 3.44 ERA.  He's allowed 19 hits, eight runs (seven earned), one home run, seven walks, and struck out ten over 18.1 innings.  Monterrey is 26-15 and first in the Triple-A Mexican League Madero Division.

Raul Gonzalez (Former Memphis) has played in 21 games going 27-for-78 (.346) with five doubles, one triple, five home runs, 20 RBIs, 49 total bases, 18 runs, 14 walks, two stolen bases, 11 strikeouts, one caught stealing, .452 OBP, .628 SLG, and 1.080 OPS.  Campeche is 16-25 and seventh in the Triple-A Mexican League Hidalgo Division.

 

D'Angelo Jimenez (Former Memphis) has played in 38 games going 41-for-131 (.313) with nine doubles, one triple, three home runs, 20 RBIs, 61 total bases, 28 runs, 34 walks, 21 strikeouts, three caught stealing, .455 OBP, .466 SLG, and .920 OPS.  Yucatan is 24-17 and second in the Triple-A Mexican League Hidalgo Division.

 

Orber Moreno (Former Memphis) has made four relief appearances posting a 1-0 record and 0.00 ERA.  He's allowed three hits, no runs, four walks, and struck out one over 2.1 innings.  Chihuahua is 23-18 and third in the Triple-A Mexican League Madero Division.

 

Kit Pellow (Former MLB Spring Invite) has played in 12 games going 14-for-46 (.304) with three doubles, seven RBIs, 17 total bases, seven runs, four walks, 14 strikeouts, one caught stealing, .373 OBP, .370 SLG, and .724 OPS.  Reynosa is 22-19 and tied for fourth in the Triple-A Mexican League Madero Division.

Nerio Rodriguez (Former St. Louis) has made nine starts posting a 4-4 record and 4.44 ERA.  He's allowed 53 hits, 28 runs (26 earned), five home runs, 20 walks, and struck out 48 over 52.2 innings.  Monclova is 13-28 and eighth in the Triple-A Mexican League Madero Division.

 

Joe Rogers (Former Memphis) has made seven appearances (six starts) posting a 1-5 record and 4.93 ERA.  He's allowed 41 hits, 21 runs (19 earned), two home runs, ten walks, and struck out 20 over 34.2 innings.  Minatitlan is 16-24 and sixth in the Triple-A Mexican League Hidalgo Division.

 

Reggie Taylor (Former Memphis) has played in 15 games going 14-for-58 (.241) with two doubles, two home runs, three RBIs, 22 total bases, seven runs, eight walks, two stolen bases, 13 strikeouts, one caught stealing, .343 OBP, .379 SLG, and .723 OPS.  Tabasco is 13-27 and eighth in the Triple-A Mexican League Hidalgo Division.

 

Esteban Yan (Former St. Louis) has made 11 appearances (one start) posting a 3-1 record, 4.86 ERA, and one save.  He's allowed 17 hits, 11 runs (nine earned), four home runs, five walks, and struck out 14 over 16.2 innings.  Mexico is 25-16 and second in the Triple-A Mexican League Madero Division.
