Interview: Springfield Manager Pop Warner

The manager of St. Louis' Double-A Texas League affiliate discusses his team's fight for a first-half playoff berth and much more.

With his Springfield Cardinals five games out of first place with nine games to go in the first half of the Texas League season coming into Monday's action, manager Pop Warner recognizes the odds are against his club claiming the first available 2010 playoff berth. Still, with the team having won three consecutive games and four games remaining with first-place Northwest Arkansas, the chance remains.

Prior to Monday's contest, Warner discussed his team's status in the standings, the unsettled ninth inning situation, his improving rotation, catching change, infielders Matt Carpenter and Pete Kozma, potential league all-stars, clubhouse leaders and much more in this exclusive interview.
