Notes:

Texas League All-Stars were in the injury news. Brian Broderick was lifted from the game early due to a right-shoulder issue and Curt Smith was removed for right calf muscle concerns, according to Kary Booher of the Springfield News-Leader.

 

Booher also reports that another All-Star, closer Eduardo Sanchez, should be cleared to pitch on Wednesday.

Cuban pitcher Yuniesky Maya has been cleared to enter the United States.  He was ruled a free agent over a month ago.  The Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, and New York Yankees seem to be the frontrunners in the race to sign him.
