Local families ease ballplayers' transition to being away from home in this week's Minor League Notebook in the St. Louis Globe-Democrat.

This week's focus is on a role carried out by general managers in the low minor leagues that is not well understood, yet carries tremendous weight in the transition of new ballplayers into professionals – helping them find inexpensive and comfortable local housing with local host families.
