Johnson City to Feature 16 2010 Draftees

Cody Stanley and Greg Garcia among newest Cardinals assigned to the Appalachian League club's opening roster.

To the tentative opening day roster of the Johnson City Cardinals of the Appalachian League, the parent St. Louis Cardinals assigned 31 players, including 16 recently-drafted recruits. They are headlined by fourth-rounder, catcher Cody Stanley and seventh-round pick, shortstop Greg Garcia.

One of the 2010 signees is new, previously unannounced, 30th rounder Iden Nazario, among those assigned to Johnson City. The left-handed pitcher came from the University of Miami and was previously selected by the Washington Nationals in the 41st round of the 2007 MLB Draft, but did not sign.

There may still be changes between now and opening day, on Tuesday, June 22.
