Cardinals Minor League Notebook: 06/27/10

Cardinals minor league clubs went 5-5 with Tyler Greene, Daniel Descalso, Bryan Anderson, Tony Cruz, Steven Hill, Curt Smith, Jose Garcia, Tyler Norrick, Domnit Bolivar, Matt Adams, Nick Longmire, Joey Bergman, Alan Ahmady, Javier Avendano, and Breyvic Valera highlight the day.

Cape Cod League

 

Justin Wright (47th round-Virginia Tech) is currently pitching, in relief, for Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League.  He was added to the roster on June 19th.

June 20: one inning, two hits, one unearned run, and one strikeout.

June 25: three innings, two hits, one earned run, and three strikeouts.

 

Jordan Swagerty (2nd round-Arizona State) was dropped from the Wareham Gatemen roster.  Could be an indication regarding his future plans.

 

 

Memphis Beat Albuquerque 6-3

 

Individual Highlights:

Tyler Greene 2-for-3 with one home run, one RBI, two runs, two walks (one intentional), one stolen base, was picked off, one throwing error, and assisted in one double play.

Daniel Descalso 2-for-4 with two RBIs, one walk, one stolen base, one strikeout, and assisted in two double plays.

Allen Craig 0-for-4 with one RBI, one hit by pitch, and one strikeout.

Bryan Anderson 1-for-4 with one home run, two RBIs, one run, one sac fly, allowed one stolen base, and threw one runner out.

Ruben Gotay 2-for-3 with one double and assisted in one double play.

Jim Rapoport 2-for-4 with one double, one run, and one strikeout.

Joe Mather 1-for-1 with one run.

Oneli Perez entered in the sixth and pitched two innings.  He allowed one hit, no runs, and struck one out for the hold (4). (p-s:23-16)(g/f:2-1)
Josh Kinney entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, no runs, threw one wild pitch, and struck two out for the hold (5). (p-s:18-12)(g/f:0-1)

Fernando Salas entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and struck three out. (p-s:14-9)

 

Rough Outing:

Kevin Howard 0-for-4 with one strikeout and assisted in one double play.

 

Former Cardinals:

Timo Perez 2-for-4 with one run and one strikeout.

Kiko Calero entered in the ninth and pitched to two batters.  He allowed no hits or runs. (g/f:1-1)(ir-s:2-0)

Prentice Redman was suspended 50 games on Friday for a failed drug test.

Notes:

The Cardinals' minor leaguers get their second crack at rehabbing Brewers' starter Doug Davis as the River Bandits visit the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Wednesday.  Davis had his first rehab start on June 24th, vs. the Memphis Redbirds, pitching five scoreless innings and striking out nine for the winning decision.
