Cardinals Telecast to the Troops Friday

FOX Sports Midwest Friday Cardinals telecast to be televised to US Troops in Afghanistan.

WHAT: "This One's For You," a special telecast of St. Louis Cardinals baseball that will connect local troops serving overseas with home. Troops will watch the game on American Forces Network. A satellite link from Afghanistan will allow FOX Sports Midwest to interview members of the Missouri National Guard live during the game.


WHEN: Friday, July 2 (telecast starts at 6:30 PM)


WHERE: at Busch Stadium; at two locations in Afghanistan; and on TV


Local troops serving in Afghanistan will get a taste of home on Friday, July 2. During the Cardinals-Brewers game, Missouri National Guard troops in Afghanistan will be shown on TV and interviewed by FOX Sports Midwest via a live satellite link. The deployed troops will watch the game on the American Forces Network.


This special Cardinals telecast is titled "This One's For You" and is produced by FOX Sports Midwest in coordination with the Cardinals, American Forces Network, DVIDS and the National Guard of Missouri.


FOX Sports Midwest will utilize the live satellite link from Afghanistan to interact with troops from the 203rd Engineer Battalion, the Agri-Business Development Team III, 135th Military History Detachment, 205th Military Police Battalion and 1107th Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group. At Busch Stadium in St. Louis, fans will be encouraged to participate by bringing banners and signs which may be shown on television. Among the crowd at Busch will be families of the deployed Missouri National Guard soldiers. In addition, fans watching on TV will be invited to send messages via to soldiers cheering the Redbirds from half a world away. Dan McLaughlin and Al Hrabosky will broadcast the game.
