Cardinals Prospect Interview: Nick Longmire

The fast-starting Batavia Muckdogs outfielder talks about his transition to professional ball.

Selected in the fifth round of the 2010 draft from the University of the Pacific, outfielder Nick Longmire took the New York-Penn League by storm in June, hitting .409 with three home runs and 18 games in just 11 games – out of the leadoff position.

With Longmire not only leading his team in most offensive categories but also pacing the league in several, manager Dann Bilardello moved Longmire down to the third position where he can produce runs.

July has been a bit harsher for the 21-year-old as he is batting just .203 this month, though he still has ten RBI in 15 games.

In the following audio interview, Longmire discusses his decision to attend college rather than sign with the Oakland A's, his fast start, where he likes to play offensively and defensively and more.
