From 2000-02, he alternated time between catching and the outfield ... won a Cubs farm system best 14 games in 2004 at Class-A Lansing with a 3.20 ERA in 26 games, including 24 starts ... Spent 2005 between Class-A Daytona and Double-A West Tennessee, going a combined 9-6 in 27 starts ... Invited to big league spring camp in 2006 before being optioned to Double-A ... Made 11 starts at Class AA West Tenn in 2006 before earning his first major league call-up ... was 3-2 with a 2.33 ERA in 58 innings with West Tenn, striking out 67 and walking 25 while holding opposing hitters to a .207 average against ... combined to go 5-7 with a 6.08 ERA in 77 innings for Chicago in 2006. ... had breakout season with Cubs in 2007 as the team's most effective reliever, posting a 1.43 ERA and 5-1 record in 59 appearances, striking out 96 and walking 35 in 69 1/3 innings.
