Arodys Vizcaino Profile
Arodys Vizcaino will not participate in the Arizona Fall League and will be sent to the Cubs' Fall Instructional League so the team can better manager his rehab. The Cubs also announced Javier Baez would not play in the AFL and would rest.
Vizcaino, 22, has yet to make his Cubs debut as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. The former top pitching prospect of the Braves was acquired by the Cubs last year for Paul Maholm and Reed Johnson. He missed all of the 2012 season after undergoing surgery during spring training. Vizcaino was on schedule to pitch this year in the minors and possibly Wrigley but calcium deposits in his throwing arm kept the 6-foot right-hander off the mound. Vizcaino was signed in 2007 by the Yankees out of the Dominican Republic. He made 17 relief appearances for Atlanta in 2011 going 1-1 with a 4.67 ERA.
