Triple-A -- Iowa Cubs
Stock Up: Luis Valbuena
A late addition to the Cubs, 26-year-old second baseman Luis Valbuena has given Iowa a big boost offensively. Valbuena is hitting .324 in his last ten games, including two home runs and eight RBIs knocked in, posting a .986 OPS during that span.
Valbuena's biggest issues this season have been with strikeouts -- 17 in 15 games. However, he has reached base 26 times in 54 at-bats during the campaign. His early surge is an encouraging sign for the Cubs.
Double-A -- Tennessee Smokies
Stock Up: Nicholas Struck
22-year-old righthander Nicholas Struck has cruised in his first four starts of the 2012 season. Struck has surrendered just six runs and 17 hits in 22 innings of work, posting 2.45 ERA. Struck also has struck out 21 batters, including 10 in his season debut.
Struck struggled in Triple-A Iowa last season, posting a 5.20 ERA in 62.1 innings of work, that coming after a successful six starts with Tennessee. It appears Struck is reaching a consistent level on the mound.
High-A -- Daytona Cubs
Stock Up: Greg Rohan
Daytona first baseman Greg Rohan has been on a surge. After a sluggish start to the season, he is hitting .342 in his last 10 games, including three home runs and 13 RBIs. The former Kent State star his now hitting .303 on the season.
Low-A -- Peoria Chiefs
Stock Up: Michael Jensen has improved with each start this season. The 21-year-old righthander has lowered his season ERA to 1.50, posting a 3-1 record. Jensen has allowed just 12 hits and five walks in 24 innings of work.
Peoria manager Casey Kopitzke has stretched his young starter out with each outing; Jensen worked seven shutout innings in his most recent start on April 21st. He appears to be in a zone this month.
