Dayton 8, Clearwater 1
Scoring: The Cubs got six hits in a four-run second chasing Clearwater starting pitcher Hoby Milner. Dustin Geiger's single, the Cubs third straight, scored John Andreoli for the first run of the game and then David Bote got his first FSL hit, a double, scoring Geiger and Ben Carhart. Zeke DeVoss followed with a single plating Bote to make it 4-0. DeVoss wasn't done, ripping a two-run triple in the fourth. Geiger added a RBI groundout in the eighth and Carhart knocked in a run with his third hit of the ball game. The Threshers spoiled the shutout with a run in the ninth.
Cubs Pitching: After giving up seven hits and four runs five days ago against Clearwater, right-hander Ben Wells had his best outing of the year with six shutout innings. The 20-year-old, in his third pro season, allowed five hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Yeiper Castillo tossed two scoreless innings in his third game of the season allowing a hit with 2 Ks. Left-hander Sheldon McDonald pitched the ninth allowing three singles and a run.

Huntsville 8, Tennessee 7
Huntsville rallied with five runs in the final two innings to beat the Smokies despite a big game from Rubi Siva, 3-4, HR, 4 RBI.
Scoring: The Smokies struck early as Matt Szczur singled, stole second, and scored on Jae-Hoon Ha's ground-rule double to open the first. The Stars tied the game in the second with a leadoff triple and a sacrifice fly. Tennessee got the lead back in the fifth as Rubi Silva doubled, took third on an error, and scored on Rafael Lopez's groundout. Silva (7 for his last 11) blasted a three-run homer, his second of the season. Huntsville added two runs in the sixth but the Smokies answered right back on a wild pitch and Silva's fourth RBI of the game on a single scoring Ha. Silva is hitting .394. The Stars got five hits and a walk in the bottom of the eighth scoring four times to tie the game at 7-7. A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth scored a leadoff walk for the win.
Pitching: LHP Dallas Beeler made his third start of the season working six innings and left with a 7-3 lead. He threw 90 pitches allowing four hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Beeler, 23, was a 41st round pick in 2011. RHP Tony Zych, who hadn't given up an earned run in 3.2 innings, threw a scoreless seventh but ran into trouble in the eight giving up two hits (both runs scored) before being relieved by Smokies closer Trey McNutt, who allowed three hits and a walk, to blow the save. McNutt stayed in the game to pitch the ninth but really labored throwing 37 pitches, 19 balls in 1.1 innings.

Albuquerque 11, Iowa 5
After two days of being silenced by Iowa pitching, the Isotopes offense pounded out 15 hits and blasted four homers, including two from Scott Van Slyke.
Scoring: Iowa took a 4-0 lead on a RBI by Luis Flores and a three-run homer from Ryan Sweeney, his third of the season. Albuquerque got a run in the fourth and took the lead with four runs in the fifth, including back-to-back homers. They would add six more runs against three different Iowa relief pitchers.
Iowa Pitching: Drew Carpenter, who defeated Round Rock on April 10, held Albuquerque in check for three innings but a walk and two singles scored a run in the fourth. Carpenter never made it out of the fifth, giving up a single, a walk and back-to-back homers. He allowed five earned runs on seven hits and two walks. No Iowa relief pitcher did their job—Esmailin Caridad (1.2IP, 3H 1R), Jensen Lewis (1IP, 2H 2R) and Jaye Chapman (2IP 3H 3R).
