AAA—Sacramento 9, Iowa 1
Four Sacramento (69-57) pitchers blanked Iowa (58-68) as the two teams split the four-game series.
At the Plate: The Cubs scored their only run of the game in the third when Edwin Maysonet (.225) singled, took third on a single from Luis Flores (.205), and scored on Julio Borbon's sacrifice fly. Maysonet finished with two hits and Borbon (.294) doubled.
On the Mound: Brooks Raley (7-9 4.42 ERA) had a Brooks Raley outing. He went six innings, allowed four runs on seven hits, and fanned seven. Raley threw 100 pitches and allowed a homer, the 11th of the year. Raley needs to pitch down in the zone and let his defense make plays. The left-hander should be a September call-up and I would not be surprised to see him make some quality starts for Chicago. The 25-year-old will get a chance to make the staff out of spring training next year.....Jeffry Antigua (2-1 5.64) gave up five runs (all in the 9th) in three innings in his first game in the PCL since July 22. The lefty gave up five hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
Cubs Notes: Josh Vitters is now listed as day-to-day after re-injuring his hamstring.
AA—Tennessee 4, Chattanooga 3
Javier Baez hit a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to give Tennessee (66-55) the win over Chattanooga (51-71).
At the Plate: Javier Baez doubled, walk and hit the game-winning homer, not bad for a 20-year-old in AA. It was Baez's 30th HR on the year (13 in AA in 37 games) and his 30th double. He's hitting .288 at Tennessee. Justin Bour was 2-4 with two RBI and Rafael Lopez had two singles and scored once. Christian Villanueva hit his Southern League leading 36th double. Brett Jackson was 1-4 with a RBI.

On the Mound: With his fastball hitting 96 mph in the first inning, C.J. Edwards (0-0 1.84) held the Thresher to one hit in five innings with three punchouts. It was his second five-inning, one-hit outing since joining the D-Cubs. Edwards has an uncanny ability to throw strike one and keep his pitch count low. He threw 52 pitches Thursday night.....Austin Reed (2-2 4.48) gave up six hits and allowed three runs in his three innings of relief. He issued one free pass and fanned one. Ryan Searle (1-2 6.16) made his first FSL appearance since April 21. Searle allowed a run on three hits in two innings as his fastball was in the low 90s.
