AA—Tennessee 8, Chattanooga 6
Javier Baez jacked a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give Tennessee (67-55) the come-from-behind win over Chattanooga (51-72).
At the Plate: Baez (.293/.355/.631) provided the dramatics in the bottom of the ninth with the walk-off homer scoring John Andreoli, who reached base with a bunt single that allowed Baez to bat with two outs. It was Baez's second walk-off homer of the season as he ripped a two-run shot against Tampa in the bottom of the 11th for a 6-4 Daytona win on May 28. Baez's heroics overshadowed a great night at the plate by Jonathan Mota (.268/.346/.404) who hit a two-run homer of his own and added a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game. Christian Villanueva (.270/.325/.475) is on a double tear as the third baseman hit his league leading 37th of the year in the first, plating two runs. Francescon (1-0 4.68) had given up runs in his last four outings but the right-hander held the Lookouts scoreless for two innings on a hit and two walks. He threw 36 pitches and fanned one. Armando Rivero was impressive in his AA debut with four strikeouts in two no-hit innings. I would not be surprised if Rivero and his 95 mph fastball were in the Cubs bullpen to start the season. Hunter Cervenka (5-1 3.48) got the win allowing two walks with a strikeout in a scoreless ninth.
