Oct. 17 Cubs Winter League recap

Marcus Hatley earned his second save of the season for Culiacan in the Mexican League while Mesa remained unbeaten in the Arizona Fall League.

Arizona Fall League—Cubs Prospects

Albert Almora was the only Cubs in the starting lineup Thursday night as Mesa beat Peoria 6-1. Almora went 1-4 with a single and a strikeout. He was also thrown out trying to steal second. Dallas Beeler get the start for Mesa on Friday.

Venezuelan Winter League—Cubs Prospects

La Guaira's Eduardo Figueroa (Daytona/Tennessee) had a tough night as all three hitters he faced reached base and scored. The right-hander allowed two singles and run-scoring double before being taken out. Both runners scored and Figueroa was charged with three runs and has now allowed four earned runs in 1.1 innings in his two appearance.

Dominican Winter League—Cubs Prospects

The roster are still not complete by here are some of the Cubs playing in the Dominican Winter League: SS Arismendy Alcantara, Licey; 3B Jeimer Candelario, Aguilas; P Rafael Dolis and P Marcos Mateo, Oriente; P Jeffrey Antigua, P Alberto Cabrera, Este.

Mexican Pacific Winter League—Cubs Prospects

Relief pitcher Marcus Hatley (Tennessee/Iowa) earned his second save of the season pitching the seventh inning in the second game of Culianca's doubleheader sweep of Navajo. Hatley allowed two hits and fanned one in the 4-3 win.
