Nov. 2 Cubs Recap

The Arizona Fall League held its all-star game as Kris Bryant, Jorge Soler and Albert Almora represented the Cubs organization on the East squad, which lost 9-2.

Arizona Fall League

The AFL's All-Star game was held Saturday night as 3B Kris Bryant and OF Jorge Soler got the start. Albert Almora replaced Soler in RF in the sixth. Soler walked on four pitches in his first at-bat the then ripped a single off the glove of a diving first baseman in his second trip to the plate. Bryant went 1-4 with a strikeout, scored a run, and he committed two errors. Almora was 0-2, flying out to right in both at-bats.

Venezuelan Winter League

No Cubs prospects saw action on Saturday.

Dominican Winter League

Arismendy Alcantara wasn't in the starting line-up for the sixth straight day as the second baseman is only 4-24 (.167) in six games. Alcantara pinch-ran in the 9th but didn't score in Licey's 5-2 loss to Torso. Jeffry Antigua earned his second hold striking out the only hitter he faced in the win over Licey.

Mexican Pacific Winter League

David Villegas has been released by the Cubs. The 21-year-old left-hander appeared in four games (1.2 IP) and allowed six hits and six earned runs for Mazatlan. He pitched in 22 games in the Mexican Summer League in 2012 for Tabasco and made 15 appearances (22 IP, 19K 3.68 ERA) this summer for Mesa in the Arizona RookieLeague.

Christian Villanueva was 0-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in Obergon's 5-2 loss to Hermosillo.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Edwin Maysonet batted ninth and started at shortstop for Santurce in their opening game, a 1-0 win Maysonet, who spent 2013 at AAA Iowa, was 1-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.

Rubi Silva, LF, and Jonathan Mota, 3b, both started in Ponce's 4-1 loss to Carolina. Mota was 1-3 with a run and walk. Silva went 0-4 with two strikeouts.

Australian Baseball League

No Cubs prospects saw action on Saturday.
