Beeler blanks Peoria for five

Dallas Beeler tossed five shutout innings while Albert Almora and Kris Bryant combined to go 5-7 with three doubles in Mesa's 4-0 win over Peoria in the Arizona Fall League.

Arizona Fall League

Dallas Beeler tossed five shutout innings, earning his fourth win of the season, tops in the AFL. The right-hander allowed five hits, fanned two, and didn't issue a free pass in Mesa's 4-0 win over Peoria. Beeler (4-1 2.49 ERA) has thrown 21.1 innings in the AFL and indicated in a recent interview he may play some winter ball after the AFL season to get more innings. His fastball averaged around 92 mph on Monday and he also mixed in his slider, curve, and change-up. Beeler has also been working on his cutter.

Albert Almora raised his average to .318 going 3-4 with a double and a RBI. Kris Bryant doubled twice in three at-bats and also walked twice. Bryant is hitting .371 and leads the AFL in doubles (8), homers (6), total bases (54), slugging (.771) and OPS (1.229).

Venezuelan Winter League

No games were scheduled on Monday.

Dominican Winter League

Frank Batista pitched in his third game in Aguilas' 8-1 win over Gigantes. Batista worked a 1-2-3 ninth with a strikeout. The right-hander hasn't allowed a run in 4.1 innings after leading AA Tennessee with 19 saves in 2013.

Mexican Pacific Winter League

No prospects saw action.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Jonathan Mota (AA-Tennessee) was 2-5 with a RBI in Ponce's 7-3 victory over Santurce. Mota (.211) had a pair of singles and fanned once while playing shortstop. SS Edwin Maysonet was 2-4 for Santurce, raising his average to .250 in 20 at-bats.
