The playoffs have started in the Caribbean WInter Leagues and appearances from Cubs prospects will be a rare occurrence.

Venezuelan Winter League

Jan. 1—There were no games scheduled as Zulia, Caribes, Caracas, Magallanes and La Guaira all await the round-robin playoff format.

Dec. 31—No games scheduled.

Dec. 30—Willson Contreras entered the game as a pinch hitter in the third and finished going 1-3 with a double and a run scored in Aragua's 4-1 win over Lara in the final game of the regular season.

Dominican Winter League

Jan. 1—No games scheduled.

Dec. 31—No games scheduled.

Dec. 30—All four teams in the round-robin playoff format are 2-2 as Escogido beat Gigantes 2-0 and Aguilas thumped Licey 14-3. RHP Frank Batista saw his first playoff action working a 1-2-3 ninth for Aguilas.

Mexican Pacific Winter League

Jan. 1—The Mexican League playoffs started with Guasave, Navojoa, and Mexicali all winning the first game of their series. No Cubs prospects saw action and none are on a playoff team.

Dec. 31—No games scheduled

Dec. 30—No Cubs prospects saw action.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Jan. 1—No games scheduled as Caguas, Carolina, Mayaguez and Ponce all await the round-robin playoffs.

Dec. 31—No games scheduled.

Dec. 30—1B Jonathan Mota went 1-4 with a strikeout in Ponce's 5-4 regular season ending win over Carolina.
