Daytona was shutout for the fourth time this season as they were held to two hits.
At the Dish: Not much action at the plate as singles by Daniel Vogelbach and Marco Hernandez were the only offense.....Gioskar Amaya (.435) was 0-2 with two walks......Bijan Rademacher had his 12-game hitting streak come to an end.
On the Hill: Ben Wells' night only lasted two innings as he had command issues, walking four and hitting two hitters. He allowed three runs on three hits and fanned three.......Starling Peralta worked three innings of relief, yielding three runs of four hits, one leaving the yard. He fanned two and walked two.......Zach Cates pitched the final three frames, surrendering a run on three hits to go along with three strikeouts.
Low A—Kane County 2, Cedar Rapids 1
Jacob Hannemann's suicide squeeze bunt single in the seventh gave the Cougars the one-run win.
At the Dish: Kane County had 11 hits but needed a suicide squeeze in the seventh to plate the winning run. Jacob Hannemann was in the midst of both runs as he tripled and scored on Yasiel Balaguert's RBI groundout in the sixth. Daniel Lockhart led off the seventh with a walk and advanced to third on Trey Martin's single. Hannemann dropped a perfect bunt single down the third base line as Lockhart scored. Hannemann finished with three hits, a homer shy of the cycle........Will Remillard continues to square up the ball as the backstop was 3-4, all singles, raising his average to .373.......1B Jacob Rogers added two singles and stole his first base........Trey Martin (.242) was 1-3 with his fourth steal.
On the Hill: Tyler Skulina turned in a quality performance, allowing one run in five innings. The right-hander fanned a pair, walked one, and lowered his ERA to 3.81........Nathan Dorris (3-1 1.29 ERA) recorded his third win with two scoreless innings of relief. The lefty fanned two while allowing two hits and a walk.......Zack Godley closed the door on the Kernals despite giving up a single and walk to start the ninth. Godley got the next two hitters looking and finished off the final hitter swinging for his fifth save. He worked a 1-2-3 eighth, with two punchouts.
