The Cubs minor league system is Javier Baez-less. The Cubs top prospect made his MLB debut on Tuesday night at Coors Field, hitting the game-winning homer in the top of the 12th, his first professional hit. The 21-year-old faced six different pitchers, going 1-6 with three strikeouts, a groundout, a hard line out to right field with the bases loaded and the solo blast to right center. To make room on the roster for Baez, RHP Blake Parker was optioned back to Iowa.
AAA—Iowa 7, Omaha 4
At the Dish: 3B Mike Olt has changed his swing since arriving in Iowa and is paid off as a shorten swing and an emphasis to take the ball the other way have led to a .345 average since being demoted. Olt crushed an inside pitch over the left field wall with the bases loaded and added a single in the win......RF Jorge Soler (.286) slugged his fourth homer, doubled, singled, scored twice, and knocked in three runs. With a spot already on the 40-man roster, Soler should be promoted to Wrigley in September......3B Kris Bryant (.321) was on base three times with two singles and a walk
On the Hill: Dan Straily (6-6, 4.31 ERA) threw 99 pitches over seven innings as the right-hander fanned nine. He allowed a pair of unearned runs on six hits. It was his second straight quality outing after giving at least four runs in each of his first four starts since being traded....Cubs needed four pitchers to get through the final two innings as Yoanner Negrin failed to retire any of the three hitters he faced, two hits and a walk. Marcos Mateo allowed a pair of sac flies and after walking two batters, Alberto Cabrera came in and recorded a strikeout. Cabrera got the first two outs of the ninth and Zac Rosscup came in to nail down the final out.
I-Cubs Notes: Iowa has Wednesday off and travel to Oklahoma City for a five-game series.

High A—Daytona 3, Clearwater 1
Daytona snapped a three-game shutout streak with a three-run 8th to beat Clearwater.
At the Dish: A sacrifice fly by Daniel Vogelbach and a bases loaded two-run single off the bat of Billy McKinney gave the D-Cubs all the runs they needed. It also snapped a 33-inning scoreless streak that was six days old. Jacob Hannemann had two hits and scored a run while Kyle Schwarber, singled, walked twice and scored. Marco Hernandez singled and scored in the eighth.
On the Hill: Rob Zastryzny (2-6, 4.91 ERA) allowed a run over five innings as last year’s second-round pick is finishing the season strong after a rough start. The left-hander had a 7.57 ERA after his first 35.2 innings, nine games. Stephen Perakslis (3-0, 4.47 ERA) tossed three no-hit innings and Zack Godley (3-2, 4.26 ERA) recorded his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.
D-Cubs Notes: Juan Paniagua (1-1, 4.50 ERA) gets the start on Wednesday night in Clearwater.
Low A—Game 1—Peoria 4, Kane County 1, completion of suspended game; Game 2—Kane County 4, Peoria 1-7 innings
Ben Wells earned his first win for Kane County as the Cougars earned the split with the Chiefs.
At the Dish: GAME 1—Cougars only run came in the first inning on Monday night when Shawon Dunston led off with a double and scored on Chesny Young’s RBI single. Young added a single and Daniel Lockhart went 2-3 with a double and was hit by a pitch......GAME 2—Young stole home in the first inning after the first run scored on an error for a 2-0 Cougars lead. Young went 2-3 and added a RBI. Jeffrey Baez hit his firsts MWL homer, with a solo shot in the 7th. Shawon Dunston was 2-4, scored twice and swiped his 18th base.
On the Hill: GAME 1—Duane Underwood (5-4, 2.72 ERA) started the game on Monday night and allowed a run on two hits before rain suspended play. He was charged with the loss....Jen-Ho Tseng (6-2, 2.47 ERA) allowed a two-run homer to the first batter he faced and then tossed six shutout frames, allowing a hit, a walk, and two hit batters. Michael Heesch (2-1, 2.57 ERA) gave up a run in the 8th......GAME 2—Ben Wells (1-0, 2.93 ERA) allowed a run on four hits and a walk over six innings. He didn’t recorded any strikeouts but got 12 ground ball outs. Tyler Bremer recorded his 11th MWL save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Cougars Notes: Cougars face Peoria in the series finale on Wednesday night but a starter hasn’t been named.
Short-Season—Boise —All-Star Game
CF Rashad Crawford, RF Mark Zagunis, C Justin Marra and 3B Jesse Hodges all started the 2014 Northwest League All-Star game for the South squad that ended in a 0-0 tie. Zagunis doubled for the only hit for the Hawks. Crawford (0-3), Canela (0-2), Marra (0-2) and Hodges (0-2) were all hitless. RHP Trevor Clifton was named to the squad but didn’t pitch.
Arizona Rookie League—Cubs
Had the day off.
Dominican Summer League—Marlins 8, Cubs 6
Marlins scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh after the Cubs took the lead with a pair in the top of the frame.
At the Dish: Cubs only had six hit, two each from C Yohan Matos (.306) and RF Jenner Emeterio (.312) as each player also knocked in a run. DH Frandy Delarosa (.275), SS Miguel Ruiz (.259) and C Erick Gonzalez all plated runs.
On the Hill: Andri Rondon made the start and lasted two innings, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks. Junior Marte gave up three unearned runs in four frames while Assael Aquino (4-2, 1.82 ERA) got charged for the blown save and took the loss, surrendering three runs in two innings.
