D-Cubs drop Game 2

Daytona dropped the second game of the FSL championships and have their backs against the wall as they head back to Jackie Robinson Ball park needing a sweep to repeat as champs.

Florida State League Championship—Fort Myers 5, Daytona 0

Fort Myers took a commanding two-game lead in the championship series and Daytona needs to sweep the final three games at home to repeat as FSL champs.

At the Dish: Daytona couldn’t get the big hit when they needed it, going 0-for-9 with RISP and stranding 12 runners. Gioskar Amaya, Wes Darvill and Marco Hernandez all had two hits while Kyle Schwarber, Daniel Vogelbach and Bill McKinney all walked twice..

On the Hill: Justin Amlung worked around two hits and a walk the first two innings but the Miracle used three hits and a sacrifice fly to score three times in the third. The University of Louisville product worked into the fifth and finished with a line of 4.2 IP, 7H, 3 ER, 2BB, 1K. Jose Rosario fanned three in 2.1 scoreless frames and Starling Peralta walked in two runs in the 8th, both unearned

D-Cubs Notes: Left-hander Nathan Dorris takes the mound Saturday night as the series moves to Jackie Robinson Ball Park...... Daytona outfielder Bijan Rademacher has been added to the Arizona Fall League roster and will join fellow Cubs prospects C.J. Edwards, Addison Russell, Daniel Vogelbach, Jacob Hannemann, Zach Cates, Gerardo Concepcion, and Ivan Pineyro on the Mesa Solar Sox roster. The team will play at Cub Park and will be joined by prospects from the A’s Nationals, Blue Jays and Angels. Daytona pitching coach Ron Villone will serve as the pitching coach for Mesa.
