Cubs Oct. 17-18 Recap

Bijan Rademacher had a pair of hits to help Mesa to another win in the Arizona Fall League. Junior Lake and Manny Ramirez are both playing in the DWL.

Arizona Fall League
Oct. 18—RF Bijan Rademacher continues to make the most of his playing time on the taxi squad as he went 2-for4 with a RBI single in 3rd and stole home on a double steal. In Mesa’s 8-4 win. Rademacher hit second and is batting .455.......DH Addison Russell went 0-for-4 but did score a pari of runs.......1B Daniel Vogelbach walked and scored in first and added another run, finishing 0-for-3.

Oct. 17— Daniel Vogelbach walked, scored, and ended the day 0-for-3 as his average slipped to .167...Jacob Hannemann’s struggles continue as he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and is hitting .056 (1-19) with 7 K....LHP Gerardo Concepcion tossed a scoreless frame with a walk to lower his ERA to 11.25.

Venezuelan Winter League
Oct. 18—Lara’s Eduardo Figueroa was charged with three runs, two earned, in one plus innings against Magallanes. Figueroa allowed a run in the first and all three hitters reached in the third before he we lifted. He surrendered three hits and walked two in the 11-4 win........Loiger Padron posted his fifth straight outing without allowing a run, going 1.2 frames with a pair of strikeouts in Caracas’ 6-4 loss.

Oct. 17—Loiger Padron fanned a pair in a scoreless inning for his second hold in Caracas’ 4-3 loss to Margarita.

Dominican Winter League
Oct. 18—Manny Ramirez went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his debut for Aguilas, a 7-4 loss to Toros.

Estrellas’ Junior Lake single and scored in his second at-bat, coaxing a throw from the catcher on a fake steal of second that ended up in center, allowing Lake to advance. He then used his speed to beat the throw home on a RBI single to tie the game at 1-1 in the 4th. He walked and stole second in the sixth, and scored the go-ahead run on a triple in the 4-2 win over Escogido.

Oct. 17—Alberto Cabrera got the win for Toros with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. E walked one and got the victory when Toros scored five runs in the top of the ninth against Estrellas. Junior Lake went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice and a stolen base in the loss to Toros........Manny Ramirez was in the starting lineup at DH batting cleanup for Aguilas but the game was rained out.
