Cubs Oct. 29 Recap

Cub fans are focused on the Joe Maddon saga and everyone on the planet except the Cubs and Maddon’s agent are saying its a done deal. Junior Lake had his seven-game hitting streak snapped and several Cubs prospects saw action including Marco Hernandez (pictured).

Maddon talks heat up
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is reporting the Cubs and the Joe Maddon are on the verge of a “mega deal” and he would indeed become the Cubs next manager. Both the Cubs and Maddon’s agent, Alan Nero, deny the report.

Maddon spent nine years in Tampa (754-705), taking the Rays to the playoff four times, including an AL Pennant in 2008. The Rays (77-85) finished 19 games back in 2014 and Maddon has lost his last four playoff series (13-17 in playoff career). He was named AL Manger of the Year in 2008 and 2011.

Reports have Maddon heading west in his RV, a trip he started on Friday. He’s changed his twitter handle to @Maddonini, no longer @RaysJoeMaddon. Nero told the Tampa Bay Times that he felt bad for Cubs manager Rick Renteria about all the speculation. He also said they were talking to several teams and might have a decision in the next few days.
