C.J. Edwards fanned a pair in the Arizona Fall League All-Star game in his inning of work, helping the East squad to a 6-2 win. Outfielders John Andreoli and Jonathan Mota saw their first action in Puerto Rico. More roster moves and a complete winter league recap.

More roster moves
The Cubs have picked up the $1 million option on Jacob Turner, the right-hander acquired from Miami for minor leaguers Tyler Bremer and Jose Arias. Turner appeared in eight games for the Cubs, making six starts (2-4, 6.49 ERA, 34.2 IP, 1.5 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9, 4.4 K/9). He is expected to compete for a spot in the rotation in spring training and provides the Cubs starting pitching depth but is out of minor league options. According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, Ryan Kalish has opted for free agency instead of accepting his outright to Iowa. Kalish hit .248/.295/.346 in 57 games for the Cubs and batted .251/.322/.404 in 87 games at AAA Iowa. Eddy also reported former Cub outfielder Brian Bogusevic, who was traded to Miami for OF Justin Ruggiano last December, has signed a minor league deal with the Phillies.

Arizona Fall League
C.J. Edwards pitched an inning in the Arizona Fall League All-Star on Saturday night for the East team, who won 6-2. The right-hander allowed a leadoff single and then fanned the next two hitters and got a pop up to end the third.

Dominican Winter League
Manny Ramirez knocked in his 8th run with a RBI single. He also scored a run and walked in two official at-bats...........Estrellas’ Junior Lake went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the 5-2 win over Escogido..........Marco Hernandez came into the game in the ninth and played second but didn’t bat in Licey’s 4-1 win over Gigantes.

Mexican Pacific Winter League
No Cubs prospects saw action.

Puerto Rican Winter League
CF John Andreoli and Jonathan Mota made their season debuts on Saturday in San Juan over Santurce. Andreoli, who missed part of the year with a wrist injury, went 0-for-5 while Mota was 2-for-4 with a RBI in the 6-3 loss to Santurce.

Australian Baseball League
Former Cubs pitching prospect Ryan Searle fanned a dozen Bites in Brisbane’s 6-5 win over Adelaide in the season opener. The right-hander went 7.1 innings, allowing six hits , including a pair of solo homers. Searle was released by the Cubs in May and pitched for Grand Prairie in the Independent League.
