Cubs Nov. 10 Recap

Christian Villanueva and Manny Ramirez both homers for their respective teams in winter league action on Monday. The Cubs have also re-signed minor league pitchers Starling Peralta and Jose Rosario.

Re-sign Peralta, Rosario
The Cubs have re-signed minor league relief pitchers Starling Peralta and Jose Rosario to minor league contracts for 2015 per Baseball America. Peralta spent the entire 2014 season at (6-3, 3.43 ERA, 81.1 IP) and spent most of the season throwing out of the bullpen, recording two saves in five opportunities. Rosario, also spent 2014 in Daytona, starting 16 games and appearing in 26. He finished 5-8 with a 5.44 ERA and 92 K in 101 IP. Both pitchers were eligible for free agency with seven years of service time.

Arizona Fall League
DH Jacob Hannemann (.327) was the only Cubs in the lineup and he had three hits, including a double and scored once in Mesa’s 5-2 loss.. It was his 4th double of the AFL.

Venezuelan Winter League
No Cubs prospects saw action as Caribes beat Zulia in the only game of the day.

Dominican Winter League
DH Manny Ramirez homered for the second straight night, a three-run shot in the 8th that gave Aguilas’ a 6-4 win over Licey. Ramirez (.278) has 4 HR and 14 RBI in 15 games. He finished 1-3 with two strikeouts and a walk......Marcos Mateo recorded his 7th save with two punchouts in the ninth to give Estrellas a 8-6 win over Gigantes.

Mexican Pacific Winter League
Christian Villanueva (.278) hit his second homer and scored twice in Obregon’s 6-3 win over Mexicali. Villanueva’s solo shot came in the ninth and sailed over the left field wall.

Puerto Rican Winter League
Jonathan Mota (.292) got the start at third and was 0-for-3 before being pinch-hit for in the 9th of San Juan 10-1 loss to Santurce. John Andreoli (.125) grounded out as a pinch-hitter in the 8th.
