Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop was involved in a two-car accident on Thursday in the Dominican Republic. Strop was transported to a nearby hospital and according to reports, his injuries are not considered serious. A look at some Cubs news and rumors as well as a winter league recap.

Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop was involved in an accident on Thursday and was taken to an area hospital. Strop was involved in a two-car crash in San Cristobal after leaving the festivities of the Patron Saint Juan Baron. According to a report out of the Dominican, Strop lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall at a farm belonging to former MLB player Jose Uribe. According to one witnesses, Strop, who was driving a Land Rover, and a Mustang were racing, and it had been raining. A passenger in Strop's car, Yeudy Delgado, suffered a broken leg.

Cubs Notes and Rumors
Its been reported the Cubs have offered Jon Lester a six-year deal “north” of $135. I’m sorry but putting a “direction” in front of the dollar amount really doesn’t tell you a thing other than its more than $135, that’s a 136-200 range.........Crane Kenney said the Cubs have a contingency plan if the bleacher project isn’t ready for opening day. I’m betting there’s big penalties for not finishing on time and since its a union contract, it will be ready for opening day. Season ticket holders with bleacher seats will be given seats within the park if the work isn’t done done by opening night. .....During an interview on 87.7 The Game, Chicago, Cubs GM Jed Hoyer said they will talk with manager Joe Maddon about the possibility of adding Dave Martinez to the coaching staff.

Venezuelan Winter League
Nov. 27—Caracas’ Yoanner Negrin earned his first win of the season with 5.1 shutout innings. The Cubs allowed seven hits and fanned five in the 9-4 win. Teammate Loiger Padron had some problems in the 9th, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks.

Nov. 26—No Cubs prospects saw action.

Dominican Winter League
Nov. 27—No games scheduled. Estrellas (20-10) leads the league with a 2.5 game advantage over Aguilas (18-13).

Nov. 26—Junior Lake (.271) had a big game in Estrellas’ 9-0 win over Escogido. He singled, doubled, walked twice, scored three times and swiped stole two bases to bring his DWL league-leading total to 15. RHP Marcos Mateo worked a 1-2-3 ninth for Estrellas and RHP Carlos Pimentel retired two hitters in the third for Escogido..........Arismendy Alcantara (.290/.313/.484) was 1-for-4 (single) in Licey’s 5-4 win over Gigantes.......Manny Ramirez (.302) singled and walked twice in Aguilas’ 5-3 win against Toros. Former Cub prospect Donnie Veal (Atlanta) retired one hitter in the win and the lefty is 2-1 with a 1.93 ERA in 18 games (9.1 IP).

Mexican Pacific Winter League
Nov. 27—Christian Villanueva hit his fourth homer, a two run shot in the 4th innin gof Obregon’s 7-2 loss. Villanueva finished 1-4 and is hitting .254/.379/.465.

Nov. 26—Christian Villanueva singled and scored as part of a three-run walk-off rally in the bottom of the ninth in Obregon’s 4-3 win. After flying out as a pinch-hitter in the 6th, Villanueva stayed in the game and played third. He singled in the ninth and eventually scored the tying run on a throwing error by former Cubs prospect Marquez Smith (Reds).

Puerto Rican Winter League
Nov. 27—No games scheduled.

Nov. 26—CF John Andreoli (.230) had two doubles, knocked in a run, scored once and swiped his 9th base in San Juan’s 8-4 win over Carolina. 3B Jonathan Mota (.250) was 2-5 with a double and a run scored.
