Tennessee Smokies were the first to announce a tribute to Ernie Banks. On May 12, the Smokies and Montgomery will play a day/night doubleheader on the 45th anniversary of Ernie’s 500th home run. Pat Jarvis, who gave up the historic long ball, once pitched for the Montgomery Rebels.

Hot Stove News
RHP Ryan Vogelsong, who was reportedly close to a deal with Houston, has returned to the Giants, agreeing to a one-year, $4 million deal......The Marlins and Ichiro Suzuki agreed on a one-year deal worth a reported $2 million.

Venezuelan Winter League Championship
Game 1—Caribes took the opening game of the best-of-seven series with a 6-0 win over Magallanes. No Cubs players saw action.

Dominican Winter League Championship
Game 7—Estrellas stayed alive with a 2-1 win over Gigantes to cut the lead to 4-3. CF Junior Lake went 1-for-2 and knocked in a run with a groundout. Former Cub Marcos Mateo, who signed a minor league deal with Padres, got the save with a scoreless ninth.

Mexican Pacific Winter League Championship
Game 3—Culiacan knocked out 10 hits and beat Jalisco 4-2 to take a 2-1 led in the finals. Former Cubs Marquez Smith (Jalisco) was 0-for-3 while Dave Sappelt (Culiacan) went 0-for-4.

Puerto Rican Winter League Championship
Game 4—Santurce evened the series with a 6-0 win. 2B Javier Baez went 1-for-4 with manager Joe Maddon in the crowd.
