Pacific Coast League—AAA—Colorado Springs (Brewers) 9, Iowa 8
Colorado Spring erased a 7-1 deficit and scored twice in the bottom of the ninth for the comeback win over Iowa.
Hitting Recap: 3B Christian Villanueva (.214) had his best AAA game of the season with a three-run homer in the first and and finished 2-for-4 with 4 RBI......CF Matt Szczur (.400) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base while C Taylor Teagarden (.400) was 3-for-5. LF Junior Lake (.289) had two hits and a RBI.
Pitching Chart: Seeing his first action since starting the year on the DL with Chicago, Dallas Beeler worked into the fifth before departing after throwing 74 pitches, 43 for strikes. He was charged with seven runs, allowing five hits and three walks....Carlos Pimentel worked two scoreless innings but let all three inherited runners score in the fifth......Yoanner Negrin retired all six hitters he faced in his second relief appearance of the season....Joseph Ortiz only got two outs in the 9th, allowing a two-run walk-of homer.
Hitting Recap: If Daniel Vogelbach (.460) gets any hotter he may internally combust. The first baseman went 3-for-3, hit his third homer, walked twice, scored three times and knocked in three runs....CF Albert Almora (.293) had two singles, scored twice, stole his first base and knocked in a run.....Stephen Bruno (.326) hit a grand slam in the 5th, Pin-Chieh Chen (.311) had three hits and scored three times, and Willson Contreras added two hits and two runs......C Kyle Schwarber (.359) doubled and drove home a pair.
Pitching Chart: Rob Zastryzny made his first start since coming off the DL and worked three innings, allowing a solo homer. He fanned two and threw 33 strikes before departing.....Stephen Perakslis got tagged for five runs on five hits, two leaving the park., in the 4th. Fernando Cruz got charged with four runs over two innings but got credit for the win....C.J. Edwards worked two scoreless innings with two walks and three strikeouts in his 32-pitch outing.P.J. Francescon worked a scoreless 9th.
Carolina League—High A—Winston-Salem (White Sox) 4, Myrtle Beach 2
Winston-Salem (7-9) scored four runs in the first and hung on for the win over Myrtle Beach (9-6).
Hitting recap: Jeimer Candelario (.293) and CF Jacob Hannemann (.310) bot collected three hits apiece to lead the nine-hit attack. LF Mark Zagunis (.250) and 1B Victor Caratini (.225) plated the runs.
Pitching chart: Paul Blackburn (1-1, 4.80 ERA) gave up four runs in the first, three coming on a homer. The right-hander threw 91 pitches, 57 for strikes, in five frames, allowing six hits while fanning three. Ben Wells, recently promoted from extended spring training, worked three scoreless frames, recording seven ground ball outs. Jasvir Rakkar worked a 1-2-3 9th.
Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 9, Fort Wayne (Padres) 2
South Bend (8-9) only had three hits but took advantage of four errors and nine walks in the win at Fort Wayne (5-9)
Hitting recap: Not often a team has more RBI than hits but that was the case on Saturday night. LF Charcer Burks (.315) delivered a three-run double while 1B David Bote and C Cael Brockmeyer plated runs. SS Gleyber Torres (.273) walked twice and scored two runs.
Pitching chart: Trevor Clifton (101, 3.09 ERA) fanned seven for the second straight touting to earn his first win of the season. The right-hander worked five innings, allowing a run on three hits and no walks......David Garner threw two scoreless frames while Jordan Minch gave up a run over two innings.
