Hitting Recap: Smokies only run of the game came on a RBI single from Elliot Soto (.276) in the 7th to tie the game.....2B Stephen Bruno (.310) had two of Tennessee’s six hits. Kyle Schwarber (.377) was 1-for-4 with a double and Daniel Vogelbach (.369) was 0-for-3 with a walk. Vogelbach is 0-for-his-last-11.
Pitching Chart: Felix Pena continues to impress in AA as the right-hander fanned seven over seven innings. He allowed a run on four hits and two walks and lowered his ERA to 1.46 in 24.2 innings, four starts....C.J. Edwards (0-2, 4.66 ERA) took the loss, giving up two runs in the 9th on three hits and a walk. The right-hander threw 43 pitches, 24 for strikes.

Carolina League—High A—Myrtle Beach 2, Wilmington (Royals) 1
Myrtle Beach scored two runs in the top of the 8th to end a four-game losing streak.
Hitting recap: Pelicans only had six hits on the night, two coming from LF Mark Zagunis and one plating a run in the 8th. RF Billy McKinney (.310) was 2-for-4. Trey Martin singled, stole second, took third on a throwing error and scored on Carlos Penalver’s sacrifice bunt to tie the game. Daniel Lockhart (.232) walked and scored the winning run.
Pitching chart: Jonathan Martinez (0-1, 2.12 ERA) blanked the Blue Rocks for six innings, allowing two singles and no walks. He only needed 63 pitches and fanned two in the non-decision. Despite giving up back-to-back doubles and a run, Ben Wells got credit for the win after his inning of work. Gerardo Concepcion tossed the final two frames to earn his first save of the season.

Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 2, West Michigan (Tigers) 0
Three South Bend (10-10) hurlers combined for the shutout and SS Gleyber Torres knocked in both runs in the 8th to down West Michigan.
Hitting recap: Cubs made the most of their six hits, two coming from Gleyber Torres, including a two-out, two-run triple in the top of the 8th. The 18-year-old is hitting .394 over his last 10 games.....3B Jason Vosler had two singles and Charcer Burks (.328) was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk
Pitching chart: Jeremy Null lowered his ERA to 0.79 ERA with 5.2 shutout innings. The right-hander tossed his second straight shutout appearance, fanning six while allowing six hits in his 77-pitch effort. Null hasn’t walked a hitter in 22.2 innings......James Farris (2-1, 3.97 ERA) kept the Whitecaps scoreless for 2.1 innings to earn the win and Jordan Minch pitched the ninth for his first save.
