Javier Baez hit a pair of homers and Christina Villanueva had four hits to lead Iowa over Tacoma for the third straight game.
Hitting Recap: With Cubs Director of Player Development Jaron Madison in town, SS Javier Baez is making a strong case to return to Chicago with a pair of solo homers and is now hitting. 322/.404/.540 in 23 games........After only one four-hit game in his career entering the season, 3B Christian Villanueva turned the feat for the second time in three days, going 4-for-5 with two runs and a double......Arismendy Alcantara got the offense started with a solo homer in the first, his 6th.......Taylor Davis was 1-for-4 and drove in a run with his 10th double in last six games.
Pitching Chart: Donn Roach had a tough day. According to reports, Roach had back problems warming up and had to be tended to by the trainer and then the second batter of the game hit a a come backer off his leg and he had to leave the game......RHP Blake Cooper (3-1, 2.08 ERA) was forced into emergency duty and promptly gave up a two-run homer to the second hitter he faced. It would be the only blemish as the right-hander worked 3.2 frames, giving up four hits with two strikeouts in his 58-pitch outing......Activated from the DL earlier in the day, Yoanner Negrin made his first appearance since May 2, tossing a pair of scoreless innings with two punchouts.......Gonzalez German worked the final three innings, yielding a 9th inning two-run homer, for his second save.
I-Cubs Notes: OF Adorn Chambers has been activated from the bereavement list and LHP Daniel Schlereth has been placed on the 7-day DL.......The Cubs, who claimed relief pitcher Anthony Varvaro off waivers from the Red Sox, have returned the pitcher to Boston after it was discovered he has a right flexor tear in his elbow and needs surgery......Matt Szczur’s x-rays were negative and is listed as day-to-day after being hit on his wrist by a pitch on Saturday night.....OF John Andreoli is also day-to-day after leaving Saturday night’s game after tweaking his hamstring running the base......RHP Yoanner Negrin has been activated from the disabled list and LHP Hunter Cervenka has been assigned to AA Tennessee......Eric Jokisch (2-1, 300 ERA) gets the start on Monday afternoon at Principal Park as Reno comes to town for a four-game series.

Three Montgomery (20-24) pitchers blanked Tennessee (23-21) and clinched a series win.
Hitting Recap: DH Kyle Schwarber (.310) had three of Tennessee’s eight hits, including a bunt single to beat the shift.....RF Billy McKinney went 2-for-4 while CF Albert Almora (.267) was 0-for-4 in his first game back since colliding with Bijan Rademacher on May 20. 2B Stephen Bruno (.255) played his first game since being put on the DL May 15 and went 0-for-4.
Pitching Chart: Ivan Pineyro cruised through the first five innings but didn’t make it out of the sixth, allowing four hits, including a two-run triple. He threw 98 pitches, 62 for strikes, and fanned four.....Andres Santiago worked 1.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen and Fernando Cruz pitched the 8th.

Three Potomac pitchers blanked Myrtle Beach on five hits to win for the first time in the series.
Hitting Recap: DH Jordan Hankins (.429) had two of the Pelicans five singles in his second start since joining the squad.....RF Chesny Young (.351) played his first game in right field and only his second as a pro, going 1-for-4.....3B Jeimer Candelario (.270) and C Benjamin Carhart (.211) had the other two hits.
Pitching Chart: Tyler Skulina (1-3, 4.25 ERA) has one of his best outing of the season, allowing four hits over six innings and surrendering the game’s only run in the third. The right-hander fanned six in his 81-pitch outing and finished with a game score of 64........James Pugliese fanned a pair in two scoreless innings and Jasvir Rakkar retired all three hitters he faced in the 9th, one on strikes.
Pelicans News: One of the top pitching match-up in the minors takes place Monday night in Myrtle Beach as the Pelicans send Jen-Ho Tseng (1-2, 5.26 ERA) to the mound to face Lucas Giolito (1-2, 4.67 ERA), the National top-rated prospect.
Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 6, Bowling Green (Rays) 2
Jeremy Null won his fifth game as South Bend (20-24) knocked off Bowling Green (25-19).
Hitting Recap: SS Gleyber Torres returned to the South Bend line-up after missing two games with a leg injury and didn’t miss a beat, going 2-for-4 with a two-run double in the fifth.....2B Andrew Ely (.286) gave South Bend a 2-0 lead in the 4th with a two-run double.....1B Yasiel Balaguert may only be hitting .225 but he continues to produce in the middle of the line-up as he plated two more runs with a single and added a double. The Cuban native has 20 RBI in 27 games......CF Rashad Crawford (.268) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and LF Charcer Burks (.308) tripled, walked and scored a run.
Pitching Chart: Jeremy Null (5-1, 1.89 ERA) got the win, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk in six innings. He allowed his first homer of the season, fanned four and had a game score of 57........David Garner tossed two shutout innings and James Farris pitched a scoreless 9th.
