Reno (20-24) collected 17 hits off five Iowa (22-21) pitchers to take the opener of the series.
Hitting Recap: Cubs took a 2-1 lead in the 2nd when Taylor Davis and Rubi Silva both swatted solo homers. Silva (.279) added a single and swiped a base; and with the homer, Davis is hitting .371/.429 /.614 in 26 games. CF Arismendy Alcantara (.252) had three hits, stole a base and scored once....2B Javier Baez (.311) was 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly....Adron Chambers doubled twice and Matt Szczur (.305) got into the game as a pinch-hitter and struckout trying to bunt with two strikes. Cubs were 0-for-7 with RISP.
Pitching Chart: Eric Jokisch (2-2, 3.67 ERA) made his seventh start and didn’t make it out of the fifth innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk. He fanned three in his 75-pitch outing, allowed a three-run homer and finished with a game score of 31.....Armando Rivero tossed 1.2 scoreless fames with 2 K and Joseph Ortiz surrendered a run on three hits in the 7th.....Drake Britton gave up two runs in the 8th and Yoervis Medina fanned two in in the 9th, allowing a hit and a walk on 19 pitches.

Southern League—AA—Tennessee 6, Montgomery (Rays) 4—8 innings—Rain
Willson Contreras had three hits to lead the offense as Tennessee (24-21) beat Montgomery (20-25) in a rain shortened game.
Hitting Recap: Big day at the plate for DH Willson Contreras who was a triple shy of the cycle. The 23-year-old launched a two-run homer in the third, his third, singled and scored in the 4th, and delivered a RBI double in the 5th.....Anthony Giansanti extended his hitting streak to eight games, going 1-for-4 out of the leadoff spot.......LF Jacob Hannemann (.196) plated a pair of runs in the 4th with a single.....1B Daniel Vogelbach (.320) doubled in his first at-bat but limped into second and left with a leg injury......RF Billy McKinney (.282) went 1-for-4 with a run and C Kyle Schwarber (.305) was 0-2 with two walks.
Pitching Chart: Felix Pena (4-2, 3.33 ERA) surrendered a pair of homers but fanned nine and improved to 4-2. He allowed seven hits, walked one and threw 85 pitches, 55 for strikes , over six innings. He had a game score of 54...... P.J. Francescon allowed a solo homer in 1.1 innings of relief and got credit for the save when the game was called.

Jen-Ho Tseng tossed six shutout innings and the Pelicans (27-15) scored three runs in the first two innings to beat Potomac (19-25) for the third time in four games.
Hitting Recap: Myrtle Beach didn’t waste anytime putting runs on the board against one of the top pitching prospect in the minors, Lucas Giolito, scoring twice in the first on a two-run double from Jeimer Candelario (.276). RF Mark Zagunis (.314) ripped a RBI double down the right field line in the second to make it 3-0.......SS Chesny Young (.366) and Candelario finished with two hits each.
Pitching Chart: Jen-Ho Tseng (2-2, 4.26 ERA) won the battle of the pitching prospects. The 20-year-old retired the first 14 hitters he faced before a two-out single in the fifth, and set new season highs with six strikeouts and six innings. The right-hander threw 80 pitches, 53 for strikes, coaxed eight ground ball outs, and limited the P-Nats to two hits. He had a game score of 74......Michael Heesch earned his second hold with a 1-2-3 7th but gave up a triple and and a walk in the 8th. Tayler Scott only needed two pitches to get out of the jam, getting a double play grounder, and then retired the side in order in the 9th for his second save.
