Pacific Coast League—AAA—Round Rock (Rangers) 4, Iowa 0
Four Round Rock pitchers blanked Iowa on seven hits.
In the Box: Matt Szczur (.279) had the only extra base hit, a double in three at-bats with a sacrifice. Rubi Silva’s (.278) four-game homer streak came to and end as he went 1-for-3. C Taylor Davis (.301) was 0-for-2 to snap his eight-game hitting streak.
Pitching Chart: Frank Batista (0-4, 7.64 ERA) had his best AAA start, only allowing a solo homer over three innings but took the loss. Bautista threw 78 pitches, walked three and fanned one.......LHP Jeffry Antigua blanked the Express for three innings and LHP Joseph Ortiz got charged with three unearned runs in the 9th, his second inning.

Southern League—AA—Chattanooga (Twins) 8, Tennessee 7
Chattanooga (52-40) scored seven times in the bottom of the 7th for the comeback win over Tennessee (49-45) in the series opener.
In the Box: Smokies scored four times in the first as Lookouts committed three errors. 2B Stephen Bruno (.265) had two hits and knocked in a pair in his first game since July 16. RF Billy McKinney (.275) and CF Jacob Hannemann (.223) both had two hits while 3B Jeimer Candelario (.222) doubled and scored twice. 1B Jacob Rogers collected his first AA RBI with a sac fly and walked once.
Pitching Chart: Pierce Johnson (1.73 ERA) collected a season-high eight strikeouts and allowed one run entering the seventh but only got one out and left with two runners on. The right-hander gave up six hits and walked three, throwing 97 pitches, 61 for strikes....Corey Black (4.39 ERA) allowed both inherited runners to score and by the time his night was over, five more runs scored, three coming a homer. Starling Peralta (2.70 ERA) got the final out of the 7th and worked a scoreless 8th.
Smokies News: Rob Zastryzny (0-3, 5.29 ERA) will be looking for his first AA win on Thursday night in Chattanooga.
Carolina League—High A—Lynchburg (Indians) 10, Myrtle Beach 4
Lynchburg slugged five homers and ended Myrtle Beach’s eight-game win streak in the series opener at Calvin Falwell Field.
In the Box: Pelican collected 11 hits but couldn’t match the Hillcats fire power. 1B Chesny Young (.348) extended his on-base streak to 41 games with a pair of hits, that also upped his hit streak to 11 games, matching his season-high, and was his 28th multi-hit game....C Victor Caratini (.249) went 3-for-5 with a double and knocked in three runs while CF Pin-Chieh Chen (.274) had three hits, scored three times and knocked one in. 3B Jason Vosler went 0-for-4 in his Carolina League debut.
Pitching Chart: Jonathan Martinez (6-2, 3.309 ERA) had his roughest outing in the Carolina League, allowing season-highs for hits (11) and runs (8) in just four innings. He also threw a wild pitch, hit a batter, walked one, and gave up three homers. David Garner (1.50 ERA) worked three innings and allowed three hits, but two of them were back-to-back homers. It was the first homer allowed by a Pelican reliever in the last 121.1 innings. James Farris (8.44 ERA) worked a scoreless 8th.
Pelicans News: Myrtle Beach looks to even the series on Thursday night when they send Daury Torrez (7-5, 3.51 ERA) to the mound for his 17th start.
Midwest League—Low A—Great Lakes (Dodgers) 5, South Bend 2
Great Lakes evened the series with South Bend after erasing an early 2-0 deficit.
In the Box: Jeffrey Baez (.243) extended his hit streak to 11 games with three hits, all singles, his 8th multi-hit game during the streak. C Erick Castillo (.309) went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Kevin Encarnacion (.277) added a RBI single.
Pitching Chart: Jake Stinnett (4-4, 4.92 ERA) worked into the seventh and surrendered three runs on nine hits. He fanned five, didn’t walk anyone for the first time this year, and had a game score of 49. Dillon Maples (1-2, 4.97 ERA) stranded two inherited runners and then gave up two runs over 2.1 innings. Maples has allowed runs in five of his six outings in MWL.
SB-Cubs News: Michael Wagner (2-0, 2.13 ERA) gets the ball on Thursday night in the deciding game of the series.
Northwest League—Short-Season—Vancouver (Blue Jays) 4, Eugene 2
Vancouver (15-19) beat Eugene (16-18) for the fourth straight game.
In the Box: Matt Rose (.220) blasted a two-run homer over the left-field wall in the second off Blue Jays first-round pick Jon Harris for the Emeralds only runs. LF Donnie Dewees (.227) and 2B Frandy Delarosa (.278) both doubled while RF Eloy Jimenez (.287) and CF Kevonte Mitchell (.141) singled.
Pitching Chart: Jose Paulino (1-2, 5.13 ERA) gave up a run in the first and Vancouver added an unearned run in the second. It didn’t get any better in the third for the young left-hander as two errors from Blake Headley and a single loaded the bases. Paulino walked his only hitter of the game and uncorked a wild pitch for two more runs. He left with a line of 3 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 42 game score.....Jae-Hon Ha (2.87 ERA) made the ninth appearance of his pitching career, tossing three scoreless innings of relief. The 24-year-old right-hander fanned three and allowed two hits and a walk.....Casey Blomquist and Tanner Griggs both tossed perfect innings.
Emeralds Notes: Eugene sends Kyle Twomey to the mound on Thursday night as the Ems return home to host Salem-Keiser......According to radio reports, Ian Happ has been “under the weather” and missed the last three games.
Arizona Rookie League—Cubs
Cubs had the day off. Infielder Javier Baez is expected to start his rehab in the AZL and could be in the lineup on Thursday when the Cubs host the White Sox at Sloan Park.
Dominican Summer League—Cubs 5, Tigers 2
Cubs (24-21) scored three times in the fifth to help beat the Tigers (22-23).
Pitching Chart: All-Star Junior Marte (3-1, 1.41 ERA) fanned nine and worked into the seventh for the win. The 20-year-old right-hander gave up a run on four hits in 6.2 innings and had a game score of 71....Eury Ramos (5.63 ERA) earned his first pro save, surrendering a run on three hits in 2.1 innings.
Venezuelan Summer League—Rays 4, Cubs 2
Rays used a three-run sixth to beat the Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader. Game 2 was rained out.
Pitching Chart: Yapson Gomez (0-3, 1.93 ERA) went 5.2 innings, allowing four runs, only one earned, on seven hits. He fanned one, gave up a homer, and had a game score of 47......Jose Leidenz (4.20 ERA) got the final four outs, one on strikes, without giving up a run.
