Pacific Coast League—AAA—Iowa
I-Cubs (70-57) had the day off and return to Principal Park on Monday for an eight-game home stand with Fresno and Sacramento. Iowa is seven games back of Oklahoma City with 17 games to play, including five in Oklahoma City.
Tennessee’s game on Sunday in Chattanooga was called off early Sunday morning and the two teams will play a doubleheader on Monday with a 5.15 p.m. EST first pitch.
Carolina League—High A—Myrtle Beach 9, Frederick (Orioles) 7
Myrtle Beach (34-22, 75-50) clubbed four homers for the second straight game and hung on in the 9th to beat Frederick (28-28, 60-66).
In the Box: 3B Benjamin Carhart (.258) smacked a pari of long balls, a solo shot in the 4th and a three-run bomb in the ninth to bring his season total to six. He finished the game 3-for-5 and scored three times.....C Victor Caratini (.244) went 2-for-4 and hit his 4th homer,a two-run shot in the 4th, his fourth homer of the season....DH Cael Brockmeyer (.247) slugged his third homer, a two-run shot in the sixth. Brockmeyer added a double and scored twice....
Pitching Chart: Brad Markey (6-0, 1.31 ERA) pitched into the sixth and gave up three runs on eight hits. The right-hander fanned six, and threw 77 pitches, 58 for strikes to earn his sixth win.....Michael Heesch (2.15 ERA) got the final out of the sixth and tossed a scoreless seventh. Josh Conway (3.23 ERA) surrendered a run in the 8th and Jasvir Rakkar (2.36 ERA) got charged with three runs in the 9th, only one earned.

Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 7, Fort Wayne (Padres) 4
South Bend (28-27, 57-65) scored four times in the first and hung on to salvage the final game of the series against Fort Wayne (36-19, 68-55).
In the Box: LF Charcer Burks (.269) hit a two-run homer in the first and ended the game 3-for-4.....DH Kevin Encarnacion (.272) had three hits and scored twice while RF Jeffrey Baez (.279) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI.....3B Jesse Hodges (.247) slugged two doubles, knocked in a run and scored once.....CF Ian Happ (.260) went 0-4.
Pitching Chart: Zach Hedges (7-7, 3.73 ERA) didn’t make it out of the fifth, surrendering four runs although only one was earned. He gave up seven hits, walked three and recorded three strikeouts.....Ryan McNeil (3-3, 2.73 ERA) got the win in relief, striking out three in 2.1 shutout frames......Corbin Hoffner (0.40 ERA) earned his 9th save, recording the final six outs

Northwest League—Short-Season—Spokane (Rangers) 4, Eugene 3—10 innings
A two-out single in the top of the 10th gave Spokane (11-13, 30-32 the series opening win over Eugene (14-11, 31-32).
In the Box: CF Donnie Dewees (.272) extended his hit streak to 16 games with his first pro triple in the fourth and gave the Ems a 1-0 lead when he scored on a wild pitch. LF Eloy Jimenez (.280) delivered a game-tying RBI double in the 6th and scored on Andrew Ely’s single for a 3-2 Eugene lead......Dewees finished 2-for-4 and is 26-74 (.351) during the streak with 17 runs scored.
Pitching Chart: Casey Bloomquist (1.32 ERA) blanked the Indians for the first three innings on one hit and a walk. The right-hander fanned four and had a game score 60.....Kyle Miller (5.56 ERA) got charged with an unearned run over the next three frames, limiting the bats to a hit and walk while striking out two. Luis Hernandez (5.40 ERA) tossed two more innings of shutout relief and fanned three as Ems pitching recorded 12 punchouts on the night....Scott Frazier (9.00 ERA) didn’t retire a hitter in the 9th as a double, a homer and a single ended his night.....Tyler Peitzmeier (202, 4.61 ERA) retired the first seven hitters he faced but a double and a two-out single gave Spokane the lead in the 12th.

Arizona Rookie League—Cubs 1, Giants 0
Cubs moved to within a half-game of the first-place Giants, scoring an unearned run in the 11th.
In the Box: CF Kevonte Mitchell led off the 11th with a walk, advanced to third on a pair of ground outs and scored when the shortstop misplayed a ground ball off the bat of DH Carlos Jimenez. 3B Ho-young Son had two of the Cubs five hits in his first game since being demoted from Eugene.
Pitching Chart: Duane Underwood only gave up two singles over three innings in his second rehab appearance in Mesa. The right-hander fanned two and faced 10 hitters in the outing......LH Bryan Hudson (3.86 ERA) appeared in his fourth game and for the third straight outing didn’t give up a run. The Cubs third-round pick tossed two innings, allowing a hit while striking out one......Michael Knighton (5.40 ERA) was perfect for two innings, setting two hitters down on strikes.....Jared Cheek added two more scoreless frames and fanned four. The Cubs 21st round pick out of Georgia fanned four and has only allowed one hit in five innings (3 games).......Ariel Ovando (3-0, 0.47 ERA) got out of a base-loaded no-out jam in the 10th as the inning ended when RF Michael Foster caught a fly ball and gunned down the potential winning run at home. Ovando earned the win with a scoreless 11th that included striking out the final two hitters of the game.
