Mesa won its first game in the Arizona Fall League as Cubs prospect David Garner got credit for the win in relief, fanning five over two shutout innings.

Arizona Fall League
David Garner fanned five over the final two innings and got credit of the win as Mesa earned their first victory of the season with a 5-4 win over Scottsdale. The right-hander allowed a hit and a walk in the 36-pitch outing. Right-hander Pierce Johnson go the start and went four innings, allowing three runs on two walks and three hits ,one a three-run homer. He struckout four and threw 53 pitches, 33 for strikes. 3B Jeimer Candelario smacked his third homer, a two-run shot in the sixth. He ended the day 2-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts.

Venezuelan Winter League
Former Cubs prospect Eduardo Figueroa tossed five innings of one-hit ball for a game score of 64 but Lara lost to Magallanes 4-2. The right-hander allowed two walks and fanned one in his second start (0-0, 1.54 ERA, 11.2 IP).

Dominican Winter League
2B Arismendy Alcantara went 0-for-2 with a walk in Licey’s 13-1 loss to Gigantes.....1B Taylor Davis went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in Toros 5-1 win over Aguilas. Right-hander Frank Batista fired 3.2 frames of no-hit relief for Aguilas, allowing two walks while fanning two in the 24-pitch outing.

Mexican Pacific Winter League
Mexicali’s Blake Parker (3.86 ERA) allowed two hits but kept Culiacan off the board in his inning of relief, recording one strikeout. He threw 16 pitches, 12 for strikes....3B Christian Villanueva (.357) went 1-for-4 with walk in Obregon’s 8-6 win over Mazatlan.
