Dodgers touched up Cubs pitching for 15 hits to win their second straight at Principal Park.
Hitting Recap: C Tim Federowicz (.310) gave the I-Cubs a 3-0 lead with a three-run homer in the first, his first. Cubs had eight hits with 3B Kris Negron going 2-for-4 with his second homer, a solo shot in the 9th. Munenori Kawasaki had two hits and added a RBI. 1B Daniel Vogelbach (.333) went 1-for-3 with walk while CF Albert Almora (.309) was 0-for-4 with a run scored. Willson Contreras had the day off.
Pitching Chart: Jake Buchanan made his Cubs debut as he was promoted from extended spring training and got the start on Sunday. The right-hander pitched into the fifth, allowing eight runs on nine hits and a walk. He fanned four and threw 76 pitches. Michael Wagner gave up four runs in 2.2 frames. C.J. Riefenhauser threw a scoreless frame and Carl Edwards, Jr. gave up a run in the 9th.
I-Cubs Notes: Drew Rucinski (0-2, 6.61 ERA) gets the ball on Monday night. Series of roster moves. RHP Stephen Perakslis was sent to AA Tennessee. LHP Brandon Gomes was placed on the temporary inactive list. Michael Wagner was assigned to Iowa from extended spring training. Released by the Astros at the end of spring training and signed by the Cubs on April 3, RHP Jake Buchanan was promoted to Iowa from extended spring training. Buchanan was the Astros 8th round pick in 2010 and pitched in 22 big league games for Houston, two as a starter.
Southern League—AA—Tennessee 9, Mobile 3
Smokies made it three straight behind a 12-hit attack and a solid outing from Brad Markey.
Hitting Recap: CF Jacob Hannemann (.239) went 3-for-5 with a homer, two runs scored and his 7th stolen base. 2B Chesny Young (.344) had three hits, scored twice, knocked in a run and swiped his 8th base. C Taylor Davis (.333) knocked in two while Carlos Penalver (.213) was 2-for-5 with a double and a RBI.
Pitching Chart: Brad Markey (2-0, 3.00 ERA) needed 90 pitches to get through six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk. He had a game score of 46. Starling Peralta, Gerardo Concepcion and Josh Conway all threw a scoreless frame.

Carolina League—High A—Myrtle Beach 4, Carolina 2
Myrtle Beach only got three hits but Yasiel Balaguert knock din a pair and Tommy Thorpe blanked the Mudcats for five innings
Hitting Recap: 1B Yasiel Balaguert (.301) was 1-for-3 with two RBI as the Pelicans made the most of their three hits. SS Gleyber Torres (.172) delivered a RBI double and 2B Ian Happ (.313) walked three times and delivered a RBI groundout in his other plate appearance. Myrtle Beach was issued seven free passes.
Pitching Chart: Tommy Thorpe (2-1, 3.45 ERA) earned the win as the left-hander worked into the sixth inning, surrendering just a run on four hits and three walks. He fanned five in the 88-pitch effort and finished with a game score of 58. Ryan McNeil worked 1.2 scoreless innings but did allow an inherited runner to score in the sixth. James Farris earned his third save and allowed a run in the ninth, his second inning.

Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 7, Fort Wayne 6
South Bend overcame a 6-0 deficit to force extra innings and Eloy Jimenez delivered the walk-off winner in the 10th.
Hitting Recap: RF Eddy Martinez (.235) tied the game with a RBI single in the 9th and LF Eloy Jimenez (.277) won it in the 10th with a base-loaded drive over the left fielder’s head. The 19-year-old went 3-for-5 to extend his hit streak to five games, driving in two while scoring once. CF Donnie Dewees (.369) was 2-for-5, including a two-run triple in the Cubs five-run fifth. 2B Carlos Sepulveda (.276) and SS Bryant Flete (.319) both had two hits. Every starter had at least one hit.
Pitching Chart: Carson Sands (1-0, 6.28 ERA) got off to a terrible start, walking the first four hitters. A sacrifice fly and a two-run double gave the Tin Caps four runs before the first was over. To his credit, Sands worked into the fifth, finishing with a line of 4.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 5 BB, 1 K. The Cubs bullpen tossed 5.2 inning of shutout relief. John Williamson and Craig Brooks both went 2.1 innings, and James Norwood got the win with a scoreless tenth. Brooks (1.93 ERA) has 17 K in 11.2 innings in five outings.
