Daniel Vogelbach has found his power surge, blasting two more homers in Iowa’s 10-3 win.

Pacific Coast League—AAA—Iowa 10, Omaha 3

Daniel Vogelbach slugged a pair of homers as Iowa bombed Omaha in the series finale.

Hitting Recap: A three-run blast in the 1st and a solo shot in the 4th highlighted Daniel Vogelbach’s (.337) morning in Omaha as the first baseman upped his home total to five. The 23-year-old hit seven homers last year in AA. CF John Andreoli (.216) had three hits and scored twice while RF Shane Victorino (.231) went 2-for-5 with two RBI. LF Albert Almora (.315) knocked in two runs and 1B Taylor Davis  (.296) went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two driven in.

Pitching Chart: Jake Buchanan (2-1, 4.24 ERA) blanked the Storm Chasers over the first five frames but gave up three in the sixth and tossed a season-high seven innings. He allowed eight hits, walked one, fanned four and had a game score of 52 in the 87-pitch outing. Armando Rivero pitched a scoreless 8th and Carl Edwards, Jr.. fanned the side in the 9th. 

I-Cubs Notes: No starter has been announced for Tuesday night’s game at Principal Park with Nashville.... Spencer Patton was optioned back to Iowa and Scott Barnes was placed on the 7-day disabled list with a strained right calf. Patton was in Chicago while Neil Ramirez was on the bereavement list and pitched in one game, allowing a run on a walk and a hit......Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register tweeted on Monday night that Cubs catcher Miguel Montero will be joining the I-Cubs for four games. Montero has been on the DL with a back injury but Cubs manager Joe Maddon told reporters he was close to returning.

Southern League—AA—Montgomery 2, Tennessee 1

A walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the 9th gave the Braves the victory.

Hitting Recap: Cubs took a 1-0 lead in the second when 1B Victor Caratini (.289) doubled and scored on DH Kelly Dugan’s RBI single. Caratini finished 2-for-3 and LF Mark Zagunis (.269) was 1-for-4 with a double.

Pitching Chart: Rob Zastryzny matched his career-high with seven innings and only allowed a solo homer but didn’t figure in the decision. The lefty retired nine straight at one point and gave up five hits and three walks. He fanned two in the 93-pitch outing and had a game score of 62. Josh Conway worked a scoreless but only got one out in the 8th, leaving with runners on first and second. David Berg’s AA debut only lasted one hitter as the sidewinder surrendered the walk-off double.

Smokies News: Duane Underwood makes his third start on Tuesday morning in Montgomery.... RHP David Berg has been promoted from Myrtle Bach. A record-breaking closer at UCLA, Berg was part of the Pelicans' Carolina League championship squad in 2015, saving four games and pitching to a 1.69 ERA in 16 appearances. In 2016, he was somehow even better, going 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA in nine games, earning four saves in as many chances. Berg tossed 12.2 innings and yielded just 10 hits while striking out 10 and walking only one

Carolina League—High A—Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach had the day off and host Winston-Salem (White Sox) for a three-game series. Jonathan Martinez (2-1, 3.30 ERA) takes in the hill on Tuesday night....LHP Tyler Ihrig has been released. The left-hander made a spot start in 2016 with Triple-A Iowa, allowing just one run in four innings. With the Pelicans this year, he surrendered only one hit and one unearned run in 6.2 innings, with four strikeouts and four walks. A 23rd round pick in 2013 out of the College of Marin, Ihrig went 12-7 with a 2.97 ERA in 63 games, logging 168 K in 209 innings, and pitched at all four full-season affiliates. 

Midwest League—Low A—South Bend @ Dayton—Postponed

Monday night’s game was rained out and will be made up as a doubleheader on Tuesday starting at 6 p.m. EST. Carson Sands (2-0, 4.43 ERA) and Ryan Kellogg (2-2, 2.30 ERA) will start for the Cubs.
