Thursday night’s game was rained out and no make-up date has been set. The I-Cubs haven’t named a starter for Friday night’s game at Oklahoma City.
Southern League—AA—Jackson 8, Tennessee 4
Smokies (23-30) held a 3-0 lead after the first but couldn’t hold the Generals (35-18) in the late innings.
Hitting Recap: A RBI double from LF Mark Zagunis (.311), a RBI single from RF Billy McKinney (.256) and a run-scoring double from C Victor Caratini (.291) gave the Smokies a 3-0 first inning lead. Smokies tied the game in the 6th when Stephen Bruno singled and scored a single from Caratini. CF Jacob Hannemann (.248), Zagunis, Caratini and Bruno all had two hits.
Pitching Chart: Paul Blackburn blanked the Generals for four frames but never made it out of the 5th, allowing four runs on two hits and three walks. Blackburn fanned a season-high seven and finished with a game score of 40 in the 94-pitch outing. Juan Paniagua got the final out of the 5th and blanked the Generals in the 6th. David Berg (1-1, 5.59 ERA) suffered his first AA loss, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk. Miguel Mejia got the final five outs, three on strikes.

Carolina League—High A—Game 1—Salem 7, Myrtle Beach 1; Game 2—Salem 9, Myrtle Beach 2
Hitting Recap: GAME 1—Pelicans scored their only run of the game in the 3rd when Charcer Burks doubled and scored on an Ian Happ single. Burks finished 2-for-4 as the Pelicans were held to five hits..... GAME 2—Only three hits for Myrtle Beach in the nightcap. Happ knocked in a run in the 1st with a sacrifice fly and Burks walked and scored on a wild pitch in the 3rd.
Pitching Chart: GAME 1— Jeremy Null (1-2, 1.99 ERA) went five innings in the opener and didn’t give up an earned run as all three runs allowed in the second were unearned. Null threw 80 pitches and finished with a line of 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 3 K. Dillon Maples surrendered four runs in the 6th and Jordan Minch got the final out.......GAME 2— Jake Stinnett (4-2, 4.15 ERA) got tagged for 12 hits over 5.1 innings, allowing nine runs, eight earned. He fanned four and threw 87 pitches for a game score of 13. Ryan McNeil got he final two out sof the 6th.
Pelicans News: Jonathan Martinez (3-3, 3.88 ERA) pitches the series finale Friday night against Salem.
Midwest League—Low A—Fort Wayne 4, South Bend 3
Fort Wayne (29-25) scored three runs in the bottom of the 9th for the walk-off win and the sweep over South Bend (31-21).
Hitting Recap: RF Eddy Martinez (.225) slugged his sixth homer, a solo shot in the second, and added a two-run double in the 6th as he knocked in all three South Bend runs. DH Ian Rice (.394) was on base four times with two singles and two walks. SS Bryant Flete (.227) added two singles.
Pitching Chart: Ryan Kellogg fanned seven over 6.2 innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk. He only needed 83 pitches and finished with a game score of 66. Scott Effross worked 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out the side in the 8th. James Norwood got two outs in the 9th but a two-run single and a throwing error by third baseman Jesse Hodges gave the Tin Caps the walk-off win.
