Pacific Coast League—AAA— Round Rock (Rangers) 10, Iowa 7
Three runs in the top of the 8th gave Round Rock its fourth straight twin over Iowa.
Hitting Recap: C Willson Contreras (.351) extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a RBI triple. The 22-year-old finished 1-for-4 with a walk. 1B Daniel Vogelbach (.313) slugged his 10th homer and went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two knocked in. 3B Jeimer Candelario (.267) doubled home two runs and OF John Andreoli (.212) homered in the first, his 7th, and was 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. OF Mark Zagunis (.294) had two hits and a walk. Iowa collected 11 hits and drew seven walks but were just 2-for-14 with RISP.
Pitching Chart: Drew Rucinski gave up five runs on six hits and a walk in 4.2 innings. He fanned four and threw 83 pitches. Gerardo Concepcion only got two outs in his 10th AAA appearance, getting charged with two runs on three hits and two walks. After not allowing a run in his first 8.2 innings at Iowa, the lefty has surrendered six runs in this last seven frames. Miguel Mejia stranded three runners, getting the final two outs of the 6th. Rehabbing right-hander Dallas Beeler only needed eight pitches to get through a scoreless 7th. Carl Edwards, Jr. (1-1, 4.63 ERA) took the loss, yielding three runs in the 7th, two coming a homer. Spencer Patton fanned two in the 9th.

Southern League—AA—Tennessee 5, Chattanooga (Twins) 4
Tennessee snapped their three-game losing streak against the Lookouts with a 12-hit attack.
Hitting Recap: C Victor Caratini (.303) led the offense going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. 3B David Bote (.500) had two hits and added a RBI while LF Kelly Dugan (.215) and CF Trey Martin (.167) plated runs. 2B Daniel Lockhart (.385) doubled and singled.
Pitching Chart: Paul Blackburn (4-2, 2.53 ERA) tossed seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk. The right-hander threw 92 pitches, 66 for strikes, and picked off two runners. Blackburn coaxed eight ground ball outs and finished with a game score of 58. Juan Paniagua surrendered a solo homer in the 8th but worked around a two-out walk in the 9th for his third save.
Smokies News: Tyler Skulina (3-3, 3.59 ERA) makes his 13th start after allowing one earned run over seven innings in his last start against Mississippi.
Carolina League—High A—Lynchburg (Indians) 3, Myrtle Beach 2
Despite a pair of solo homers from Gioskar Amaya, Lynchburg took the series with a run in the bottom of the 8th.
Hitting Recap: Only four hits for the Pelicans and two of them left the yard—both solo homers from DH Gioskar Amaya (.261). After not hitting a homer in his first 30 games, Amaya has four in his last five games and is hitting .438 over his last 10 games with 8 RBI. 2B Ian Happ (.270) and LF Charcer Burks (.207) both singled.
Pitching Chart: Trevor Clifton went five innings, throwing 86 pitches in his 12th start. He allowed two runs on four hits and three walks to go along with six strikeouts. Game score 54. Daury Torrez tossed 1.2 scoreless frames and Jordan Minch allowed two hits and fanned one in a ? of an inning. Dillon Maples only got one out in the 8th as a double steal resulted in a throwing error from catcher Erick Castillo that allowed the eventually winning run to score. Daniel Lewis came in with the bases loaded and got a double play to end the 8th.

Midwest League—Low A— Bowling Green (Rays) 6, South Bend 0
Bowling Green’s Michael Velasquez took a perfect game into the 7th and P.J. Higgins had the Cubs only hits as the Hot Rods took the series.
Hitting Recap: Only two hits for the Cubs with C P.J. Higgins (.277) breaking up the perfect game with a single in the 7th. Higgins also singled in the 9th. 3B Josh Silver went 0-for-3 with a walk in his Cubs debut.
Pitching Chart: Carson Sands (5-1, 3.27 ERA) got charged with his first loss as the lefty only lasted two innings, yielding three runs on three hits and three walks. He fanned two and threw 55 pitches. Greyfer Eregua gave up two runs over four innings and Scott Effross allowed a run in his two innings of work. It was the first run Effross had allowed in his last 11 appearances, spanning 17.1 innings (9 H, 3 BB, 23 K).
SB-Cubs News: The Cubs signed free agent IF Josh Silver to a minor league deal and assigned him to South Bend. The 26-year-old has spent the last two seasons in the Frontier League and was leading the Independent League in hitting (.455) after 20 games before signing. He was a NAIA gold glove winner at Lee University in Tennessee.
