Pacific Coast League—AAA—Nashville (A’s) 3, Iowa 2—11 innings
Nashville took the series opener with a walk-off win.
Hitting Recap: Cubs grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth on back-to-back doubles by LF Chris Coghlan (.500) and 3B Jeimer Candelario (.319). RF John Andreoli (.253) added a RBI double in the fifth. Coghlan finished the night 3-for-4 with three doubles as five of the Cubs seven hits were two-baggers.
Pitching Chart: Josh Collmenter (1.96 ERA) got the start and lasted five frames, surrendering two runs on three hits and two walks. Pierce Johnson (6.45 ERA) tossed 1.2 scoreless frames and Joe Thatcher (5.12 ERA) recorded the final out of the seventh. Joe Smith worked a scoreless inning and Gerardo Concepcion (7.24 ERA) fanned three over two innings. Jose Rosario (1-1, 2.45 ERA) only got one out in the 11th as the Sounds used a single, a walk and another single to win the game.

Southern League—AA—Birmingham (White Sox) 3, Tennessee 0
Barons only had two hits but two pitchers combined to blank the Smokies.
Hitting Recap: 1B Benjamin Carhart (.269) went 2-for-3 as the Smokies were held to five hits, all singles.
Pitching Chart: Tyler Skulina (2-5, 5.39 ERA) had a good night on the mound but didn’t get any run support. The right-hander tossed 6.2 frames, allowing three runs (one eared) on two hits and three walks. He fanned five in the 100-pitch outing, 63 for strikes and had a game score 60. Starling Peralta (3.82 ERA) worked 1.1 scoreless innings and James Farris (3.00 ERA) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth with two strikeouts.
Smokies News: Michael Wagner (2-1, 3.35 ERA) takes the hill on Tuesday night against Birmingham.....OF Lane Adams was named the Southern League player of the week on Monday after hitting .500/.548/.750 in seven games with 12 RBI and seven stolen bases.
Carolina League—High A—Myrtle Beach
Pelicans had Monday off and host Lynchburg on Tuesday night with Carolina League Pitcher of the Year Trevor Clifton (7-7, 2.87 ERA) taking the mound. The Cubs and Myrtle Beach announced on Monday they had extended their player development contract through the 2020 season.
Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 2, Great Lakes (Dodgers) 1
South Bend won by walk-off for the 12th time this season.
Hitting Recap: LF Roberto Caro’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth scored RF Eddy Martinez (.261) to give South Bend the win. Martinez led off the ninth with a single, advance to second on a hit by 3B Matt Rose (.231), took third on a sacrifice bunt from DH Adonis Paula (.203) and scored on Caro’s game-winner. CF Connor Myers (.218) gave South Bend a 1-0 led in the third with a homer over the left-field wall, his second. Martinez finished 2-for-4 as the Cubs were held to six hits.
Pitching Chart: Ryan Kellogg (3.18 ERA) fanned six over 4.2 frames, throwing 62 pitches, 37 for strikes. The left-hander allowed a run on four hits and had a game score of 63. Tanner Griggs (2.05 ERA) worked 2.2 scoreless frames and John Williamson (2-1, 2.33 ERA) earned the win with 1.2 scoreless innings.

Northwest League—Short-Season—Eugene 4, Tri-City (Padres) 2
Samuel Tidaback knocked in three runs to lead Eugene to victory.
Hitting Recap: C Samuel Tidaback (.205) delivered a two-run double in the second and added another run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to lead the offense. LF Kevonte Mitchell (.245) went 2-for-3 with pair of doubles and a RBI while DH Marcus Mastrobuoni (.223) was 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Pitching Chart: Tyson Miller (3.38 ERA) went five innings, a new career-high, in his third start in Eugene, surrendering two runs on five hits and a walk. He fanned two and had a game score of 48 in the 75-pitch outing. The Ems bullpen kept the Dust Devils scoreless. Alex Santana earned the win with 1.2 frames and M.T. Minacci earned his fifth hold with 1.1 innings. Wyatt Short struckout the side in the ninth for his seventh save.

Arizona Rookie League—A’s 4, Cubs 3—12 innings
Cubs ended the AZL regular season with an extra inning loss to the A’s.
Pitching Chart: LH Brian Matusz made a rehab start and worked a 1-2-3 first, his only inning. Pablo Ochoa (5.79 ERA) gave up three runs over six innings on eight hits with three strikeouts. Jordan Brink (3.18 ERA) fanned four in three scoreless and Jose Leidenz (2-1, 6.55 ERA) gave up the winning run in the top of the 12th, his second inning of work.
