Pacific Coast League—AAA—Iowa 5, Colorado Spring (Brewers) 1
I-Cubs made it three straight and look to close out the season with a sweep of the Sky Sox.
Hitting Recap: Iowa scored all the runs they would need in the first on a sacrifice fly from 3B Jeimer Candelario (.332) and a RBI double from 1B Bijan Rademacher (.290). P Drew Rucinski (.182) helped his own cause with a run-scoring triple in the second and RF John Andreoli (.257) added a RBI double in the fourth. SS Munenori Kawasaki (.252) and Rademacher both finished with two hits.
Pitching Chart: Drew Rucinski (7-15, 5.92 ERA) had his best outing of the year, holding the Sky Sox to one run over 7.2 innings. Allowing three hits and a walk, the right-hander fanned eight and had a game score of 83 in the 103-pitch outing. LH Joe Thatcher (4.50 ERA) got the final out of the eighth and RH Spencer Patton fanned two in the ninth.

Southern League—AA—Tennessee 12, Montgomery (Rays) 4
Smokies scored 10 times in the fourth and burnt the Biscuits.
Hitting Recap: Tennessee sent 15 batters to the plate in the fourth and collected eight hits, drew three walks, got hit by a pitch and scored 10 times. RF Kelly Dugan (.262) had two hits and plated a pair of runs in the innings while SS Daniel Lockhart (.211) and C Benjamin Carhart (.259) added two-run doubles. LF Chesny Young went 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI to up his Southern League best average to .303, five points higher that his closest competitor. 2B Stephen Bruno (.278) had three hits as the Smokies finished the game with 18.
Pitching Chart: Michael Wagner (3.86 ERA) only lasted 3.1 innings, surrendering three runs on four hits and four walks in the 66 pitch outing. Stephen Perakslis (2-4, 3.47 ERA) got credit for the win, allowing a solo homer over 3.2 innings with two strikeouts. Juan Paniagua (4.04 ERA) fanned two in the eight and James Farris (2.75 ERA) tossed a 1-2-3 ninth.

Carolina League—High A—Myrtle Beach 11, Potomac (Nationals) 4
Yasiel Balaguert set the new Myrtle Beach single-season RBI mark as the Cuban native knocked in four to up his total to 96.
Hitting Recap: 1B Yasiel Balaguert set a new Myrtle Beach franchise RBI record in impressive fashion, going 4-for-5 with a homer (19) and four RBI (96). He broke the old mark set in 2008 by Ernesto Mejia. RF Daniel Spingola (.230) went 2-for-4 with three driven in while LF Charcer Burks (.247) and CF Donnie Dewees (.289) both collected three hits, scored once and knocked in a run. 3B David Bote (.337) and SS Andrew Ely (.236) both plated runs.
Pitching Chart: In his seventh start, RH James Pugliese (7-5, 3.83 ERA) only allowed two earned runs over 5.2 frames, limiting the P-Nast to six hits and two walks in the 10-pitch outing, 60 for strikes. RH Daury Torrez (3.56 ERA) worked two scoreless innings with three punchouts and RH Ryan McNeil (2.33 ERA) recorded the final four outs.

Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 3, Dayton (Reds) 2
A two-run single in the bottom of the eight from P.J. Higgins gave South Bend their 83rd win of the season.
Hitting Recap: 2B Carlos Sepulveda (.310) led off the eighth with a single and after a wild pitch moved him to second, CF Connor Myers (.220) walked. Another wild pitch sent Sepulveda to third and Myers then swiped second. After a strikeout, C P.J. Higgins (.283) singled to left to score both runners. South Bend tied the game in the seventh when RF Eddy Martinez (.254) walked, advanced to third on a double by 3B Vimael Machin (.245), and scored on sacrifice fly from DH Alberto Mineo (.242). Cubs were held to six hits, two each from Higgins and Sepulveda.
Pitching Chart: Justin Steele (5.00 ERA) tossed six solid innings in his final regular season start, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits. The 21-year-old left-hander fanned five in the 82-pitch outing and had a game score of 65. RH Pedro Araujo (3-0, 1.59 ERA) got the win in relief, fanning three in two scoreless frames. RH Dillon Maples (3.24 ERA) worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his ninth save.

Northwest League—Short-Season—Hillsboro (D-Backs) 7, Eugene 6
After tying the game in the top of the ninth, Eugene lost on a walk-off passed ball.
Hitting Recap: Trailing 6-4 in the ninth, the Ems tied the game with a two-run double by SS Zack Short (.242) that scored CF Jose Gonzalez (.211) and RF Robert Garcia (.287). 3B Wladimir Galindo (.246) gave the Ems a 2-0 lead in the third with his ninth homer and finished the game 2-for-5. Short added a two-run single in the fourth and had a career-high four RBI.
Pitching Chart: Tyson Miller (3.97 ERA) tossed four innings and surrendered three runs on five hits, one a solo homer. The right-hander threw 68 pitches and fanned two for a game score of 41. LH Marc Huberman (1.72 ERA) gave up two runs in the fifth and threw a scoreless sixth. It was the first earned run Huberman had allowed since July 31. LH Andin Diaz (4.50 ERA) gave up a run in the seven and LH Wyatt Short (0.00 ERA) pitched a scoreless eighth. RH Jed Carter (3-1, 5.68 ERA) gave up a leadoff double in the ninth and the runner scored from second on a passed ball that bounced of the shinguard of Marcus Mastrobuoni and went towards the Hops’ dugout.
Emeralds Notes: Dylan Cease (2-0, 2.50 ERA) is scheduled to take the hill on Monday night in the last game of the regular season.
