Everett evened the best of three series with a 7-1 win

Eugene and Everett will play a deciding Game 3 on Tuesday night after the Aqua Sox beat Eugene on Monday. Myrtle Beach and Trevor Clifton look to get the upper hand in the MiIlls Cup on Tuesday night.

Northwest League Playoffs—Game 2—Everett 7, Eugene 1

Everett scored four times in the fourth and downed the Ems in Game 2 to even the best of three series.

Hitting Recap: Eugene’s only run of the game scored in the second on a sacrifice fly from C Tyler Payne 3B Wladimir Galindo went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. SS Zack Short added two singles and a walk.

Pitching Chart: Tyson Miller surrendered a pair of unearned runs in the first and didn’t make it out of the fourth, ending the night with a line of 3.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K. Tyler Peitzmeier allowed two inherited runners to score in the fourth and Everett added two more runs off the left hander. Bryan Hudson tossed the final four frames, allowing a run on four hits while striking out two.

Emeralds Notes: Eugene has not named a starter but its expected Manuel Rondon, the NWL Pitcher of the Year, will take the hill for the Ems in the winner takes the title Game 3.

Carolina League Playoffs—Myrtle Beach vs. Lynchburg

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday night and the Pelicans send Carolina League Pitcher of the Year Trevor Clifton to the mound. The hard-throwing right-hander with a wipe out breaking ball blanked the Hillcats for six innings with seven strikeouts back on Aug. 30. In his only other appearance against Lynchburg back on June 12, he allowed two runs on four hits over five frames, punching out six while walking three.

With the series tied at 1-1, Myrtle Beach will send Preston Morrison in Game 4 on Wednesday night and Duane Underwood will get the ball if a Game 5 is necessary.
