Cubs sign relief pitcher Jim Henderson to a minor league deal. Draft order set and winter league playoffs.

Cubs add bullpen arm

According to reports, the Cubs have signed 34-year-old right-hander reliever Jim Henderson to a minor league deal. A veteran of 155 big league games, Henderson went 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA in 44 games last year for the Mets, 40 K in 35 IP.  The Canadian native features a fastball in the mid-90s and a slider in the mid-80s. A former Cubs farmhand in 2007-08, the 26th round pick of the Expos in 2003 recorded 28 saves for the Brewers in 2013. Henderson provides the Cubs with more bullpen depth in the minors at Iowa. 

Draft order set

With the Orioles re-singing Mark Trumbo, the last free agent tied to a compensation pick, the draft order is now set for the June 12-14 draft. The Cubs will pick 27th and 30th in the first round, have the 67th overall pick in round two and make pick 105 in round three. The will have the last pick in rounds 4-40.

Venezuelan Winter League

In Game 1 of the best-of-seven finals, Zulia scored eight times in the sixth and beat Lara 12-2. 

Dominican Winter League

In Game 2 of the best-of-nine finals, Licey scored twice in the bottom of the eight to beat Aguilas 4-2 and evened the series. 3B Chesny Young went 1-for-3 with a RBI and a walk in the loss.

Mexican Pacific Winter League

Mexicali and Los Mochis square off in Game 1 of the best-of-seven finals on Jan. 21.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Santurce leads the best-of-nine series 3-2 and play resumes on Jan. 21.
