South Bend releases promo schedule

The South Bend Cubs have announced their 2017 Promotional Schedule that features World Series Wednesday. Every Wednesday night game, the South Bend Cubs will feature a giveaway item or special promotion that focuses on the first World Championship for the Cubs in 108 years. Each Wednesday will also spotlight a key moment from the World Series during the game. Two bobblehead giveaways are on the schedule, top Chicago Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez (June 18 & August 13) and former Chicago Cubs outfielder and World Series Champion Dexter Fowler (June 14). Appearances for 2017 include the World Series Trophy (April 20), former Chicago Cubs All-Star Bill Buckner (May 18), Rally Entertainment (June 13), Hall of Famer Andre Dawson (June 15) and Clark the Cub (August 10). Here’s a complete list.

Cubs 2017 TV schedule

The Chicago Cubs announced their 2017 regular season television schedule featuring broadcasts from CSN Chicago, WGN-TV and WLS-TV/ABC 7. CSN Chicago will televise the club's first local broadcast on Tuesday, April 4 at St. Louis, the team's second game of the season following the national opener on ESPN on Sunday, April 2. WGN-TV's first broadcast is on Wednesday, April 5 at St. Louis at 12:45 p.m. CT while WLS-TV/ABC 7 has its first broadcast on Wednesday, April 12 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field at 7:05 p.m. CT, also the night of the club's pre-game World Series ring ceremony. In 2017, CSN Chicago will televise as many as 81 Cubs games, WGN-TV will broadcast 45 games and WLS-TV/ABC 7 has 25 games. Len Kasper returns for his 13th season in the Cubs' television booth and will be joined by Jim Deshaies for their fifth season together broadcasting Cubs baseball.

Cubs tickets go on sale Feb. 21

The Chicago Cubs today announced details for purchasing single game tickets for the 2017 season. Single game tickets go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, February 24, and will be available on www.cubs.com or by calling 800-THE-CUBS (800-843-2827). Fans may once again participate in the online pre-sale prior to the general on-sale date. Starting Tuesday, February 21, at noon CST, single game tickets will be available at www.cubs.com for a 20 percent premium, or a 15 percent premium for fans using a Mastercard. Tickets for each regular season home game are available for purchase during the Mastercard Presale and general on-sale, including the Home Opener vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers, summer holiday games, Kids Sundays, rivalry contests with the Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as Interleague matchups with rare visits from the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays. Beginning this year, the Cubs are offering mobile ticketing through the MLB.com Ballpark app as the instant delivery option for fans and have eliminated the print-at-home method. 

New VP of human resources

The Chicago Cubs have hired Ann Weiser as vice president of human resources. In this role, Weiser will oversee the organization's talent strategy, including talent acquisition and development, associate engagement and retention, performance management and compensation and benefits. Weiser's career spans more than 30 years, including roles leading human resources, business integration, organizational transformation and talent development.
