Pacific Coast League—AAA—Round Rock (Rangers) 10, Iowa 6
Round Rock scored seven unanswered runs and pounded Iowa pitching for 15 hits in the series finale.
Hitting Recap: Iowa grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run double from C Victor Caratini, scoring DH Tommy La Stella (.381) and SS Chesny Young (.244), who led off the game with singles. I-Cubs added three more in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Caratini and a two-run homer from LF Mark Zagunis (.220), his third of the series and fourth of the season. Iowa had 12 hits, two each from La Stella, 3B Jeimer Candelario (.309) and 1B Taylor Davis (.271). David extended his on-base streak to 36 games and Caratini upped his hit streak to 10 games.
Pitching Chart: RH Williams Perez (0-3, 10.93 ERA) made his third start and went five innings, surrendering seven runs on 10 hits and two walks. He fanned four and threw 90 pitches. Game score 23. RH Miguel Mejia worked two frames and gave up three runs on three hits and two walks. RH Pierce Johnson tossed a scoreless eighth, working around two hits and walk.

Southern League—AA—Game 1—Tennessee 2, Chattanooga (Twins) 0; Game 2—Tennessee 1, Chattanooga (Twins) 0
Smokies pitching blanked the Lookouts in both games as Zach Hedges tossed a gem in the opener and three relievers combined to shutout Chattanooga in the nightcap.
Hitting Recap: Game 1—After getting shutout the first six frames, the Smokies finally broke through in the seventh. After two outs, Jason Vosler reached on an error and advanced to second on a single from Ian Rice. Jeffrey Baez drew a walk to load the bases and Andrew Ely delivered a two-run single for a 2-0 lead. Only five hits for the Smokies, two for Rice; Game 2—Only two hits for the Smokies and they scored the only run of the game in the first. Charcer Burks walked, stole second and took third on a sacrifice bunt from Baez. Burks then scored when David Bote grounded out to third. Bote and Rice both singled in the win.
Pitching Chart: Game 1—Making his first start since April 17, Zach Hedges (2-2, 2.38 ERA) gave up a single and walk to start the game but retired the next ten hitters, eight on ground balls, to keep the Lookouts off the board. Hedges tossed seven shutout frames, only allowing one walk after the first. He finished the gem with a line of 7 IP, 1 H, 2 BB 3 K. The right-hander coaxed 14 ground ball outs in the 94-pitch outing. Game score 79; Game 2—RH James Pugliese got the start and held the Lookouts to one hit over the first three frames. He walked three, fanned one and only needed 45 pitches. David Berg got the win, allowing two hits over two innings. Berg fanned two and threw 19 pitches, 16 for strikes. Daury Torrez worked the final two frames, fanning three to recorded his first save. The right-hander issued three free passes and gave up a single in the 42-pitch outing.

Carolina League—High A—Myrtle Beach 7, Wilmington (Royals) 6
Myrtle Beach (10-9) scored four times in the bottom of the eighth and rallied to beat Wilmington (7-11) in the series opener.
Hitting Recap: Trailing 5-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth, LF Daniel Spingola (.327) struckout but a wild pitch allowed him to reach first and 1B Adonis Paula (.400) scored on the play. Pinch-hitter Robert Garcia (.361) followed with a two-run triple and then 2B Bryant Flete (.280) singled to plate the fourth run of the frame. Tyler Alamo (.261) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and hit his second homer of the season, a solo shot in the fourth. He added a RBI single in the sixth. SS Trent Giambrone (.227) was 2-for-5 with a RBI.
Pitching Chart: Oscar De La Cruz gave up eight hits and two walks over five innings but held the Blue Rocks to two runs. The right-hander made 89 pitches, 55 for strikes, and had a game score of 50. James Norwood fanned four in two scoreless frames to lower his ERA to 0.82. Scott Effross got charged with blown save and got credit for the win, giving up three runs in the eighth. Pedro Araujo gave up a run in the ninth but hung on for his second save.

Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 11, Lansing (Blue Jays) 6
Zack Short smacked a pair of homer to help power South Bend (11-8) over Lansing (10-9) and evened the series.
Hitting Recap: 2B Zack Short (.270) has his best game as a pro, homering in the second and fifth, both three-run shots. He finished the game 3-for-5 with a career-high six RBI. DH Yeiler Peguero (.338) extended his hit streak to 13 games with a single and a triple, scoring once and knocking in a run. C Jhonny Pereda continues to rip the cover off the ball, recording four hits to up his average to .333. LF Chris Pieters (.237) knocked in a pair of runs and 1B Vimael Machin (.333) had three hits and scored twice.
Pitching Chart: Manuel Rondon only lasted four innings, walking five and giving up four hits in the 84-pitch outing. Rondon was charged with two earned runs and had a game score of 41. Dakota Mekkes (2-0, 0.73) gave up his first run of the season and earned the win. The right-hander walked two and gave up an earned run on a hit in 1.1 frames. RH Michael Rucker fanned three over two scoreless innings and Chad Hockin got charged with three runs in 1.2 frames.
