Iowa had Wednesday off and return home on Thursday night against Colorado Springs (Brewers). A starter has not been named. According to reports, RHP Eddie Butler will go on the 7-day disabled list after turning his ankle. He’s expected to miss one or two starts.
Southern League—AA—Tennessee 8, Chattanooga (Twins) 4
Jason Vosler hit three homers to lead the Smokies past the Lookouts.
Hitting Recap: 3B Jason Vosler (.218) had a career day. The Cubs 16th round pick in 2014 out of Northeastern blasted two-run homers in the third, fifth and seventh inning to lead the offense. He finished the day 3-for-5 with six RBI. LF Charcer Burks (.314) was 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored while CF Jacob Hannemann (.429) and 1B Yasiel Balaguert (.205) both had two hits. DH Ian Rice (.233) was 1-for-5 with a RBI.
Pitching Chart: Jen-Ho Tseng (2-0, 2.45 ERA) battled for six innings and earned the win, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks. The right-hander fanned two and threw 92 pitches and had a game score of 42. Stephen Perakslis tossed two scoreless frames and Andury Acevedo kept the Lookouts off the board in the ninth.

Carolina League—High A—Myrtle Beach 7, Wilmington (Royals) 3
Myrtle Beach jumped out to a early 6-0 lead and beat Wilmington for the second straight game.
Hitting Recap: Pelicans grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first on a RBI ground out by Eddy Martinez and a RBI single from Tyler Alamo. They added four more runs in the second as Jesse Hodges led off the frames with his second homer. Bryant Flete and Trent Giambrone added RBI single while the final run scored on a double play ground out. Flete, Giambrone and Martinez all finished with two hits.
Pitching Chart: Ryan Kellogg made his season debut and went five innings for the win. The left-hander gave up three runs on four hits over five innings. He fanned four and had a game score of 57 in the 66-pitch outing. Casey Bloomquist tossed the final four scoreless frames for his first save. Bloomquist yielded two hits and fanned four in the efficient 46-pitch outing.

Midwest League—Low A—South Bend 14, Lansing (Blue Jays) 9
South Bend (12-8) used 16 hits to out-slug Lansing (10-10) to take the series
Hitting Recap: LF Kevonte Mitchell (.242) had a career-high four hits, including his second homer of the season, scoring twice and driving in two runs. 3B Vimael Machin (.368) was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and five RBI, including a three-run homer in the fifth, his first. SS Zack Short (.288) was on base five times with a double, a triple and three walks and scored four times. C Tyler Payne (.162) knocked in two runs while RF Chris Pieters (.254) and CF Luis Ayala (.254) both finished with two hits. The Cubs scored in every inning except two. Every starter had at least one hit except Yeiler Peguero, who had his hit streak snapped at 12.
Pitching Chart: Jose Paulino got the start and only lasted four innings, throwing 73 pitches, only 37 for strikes. The lefty gave up seven runs on six hits and five walks. Kyle Miller (1-0, 1.93 ERA) got the win in relief, tossing 4.1 frames while holding the Lugnuts to one earned run on four hits and four walks. LH Wyatt Short got the final two outs.
