Southern League—AA—Jackson (Diamondbacks) 2, Tennessee 0
Generals held Tennessee to three hits and moved back into first place with the win.
Pitching Chart: Preston Morrison (0-3, 3.73 ERA) fired six innings, allowing a run on four hits and three walks. He fanned two and the only run allowed came on a solo homer in the third. Morrison threw 88 pitches, 55 for strikes and recorded eight ground ball outs. Game score 55….. Brad Markey surrender a solo homer in the seventh and David Garner worked around two walks and a single in the eighth.

Carolina League—High A—Game 1—Myrtle Beach 1, Winston-Salem (White Sox) 0; Game 2—Winston-Salem 5, Myrtle Beach 1
Adbert Alzolay flirted with a no-hitter in the opener and the Dash used a four-run second to earn the split in the night-cap.
Hitting Recap: Game 1—Pelicans only had five hits but Tyler Alamo’s solo homer over the left field wall in the fourth was the only run they needed.
Game 2—Myrtle Beach was shutout for six innings and finally got on the board in the seventh when Alamo doubled, took third on a single by Adonis Paula and scored on a sacrifice fly from Connor Myers. Eddy Martinez and Paula both had two hits.
Pitching Chart: Game 1—Adbert Alzolay no-hit the Dash for six plus inning but a infield single in the seventh ended history. Alzolay gave up another single but got the final out to complete the shutout. He walked three and recorded three punchouts in the gem. The right-hander threw 90 pitches, 53 for strikes, and got eight fly ball outs. Game score 75.
Game 2—RH Casey Bloomquist (2-3, 4.78 ERA) got the start and got tagged for four runs in the second. He finished with a line of 3 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 0 B, 1 K. LH Marc Huberman allowed a run in the fourth and RH Scott Effross tossed two shutout frames with three strikeouts.
Pelicans News: The Cubs top pick in last year’s draft, Thomas Hatch (0-3, 4.85 ERA) looks for his first pro win in his seventh start on Thursday at Winston-Salem. After working five innings in his pro debut, Hatch has been unable to match that effort in his last five outings, lasting 3.2 frames in his last start. Cubs have kept Hatch’s work load around the 80-pitch mark but 18 walks in 26 innings is not helping him log innings.
Midwest League—Low A—South Bend, Burlington (Angels) 4, South Bend 3
Burlington scored twice in the eighth and walked off with the win in the tenth to salvage the final game of the series.
Hitting Recap: Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-run double from 2B Yeiler Peguero, scoring Zack Short and Brandon Cummins. They added another run in the eighth when Luis Ayala doubled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Isaac Paredes. Cummins and Paredes both finished with three hits while Jhonny Pereda extended his hit streak to 14 games with a single.
Pitching Chart: Bryan Hudson worked six solid innings, allowing a run on four hits and a walk. He fanned three in the 73-pitch outing and recorded 11 ground ball outs. Game score 66. Dakota Mekkes surrendered two runs (one earned) in 1.1 frames, giving up a homer, one of three hits. Wyatt Short got charged with a blown save as he allowed the tying run to score in the eighth. Jared Cheek got the first two outs of the tenth but a single, two walks and another single gave the Bees the win.
