ST. LOUIS, Mo. - After suffering a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night at Busch Stadium, the Cubs battled back Saturday with a rain-soaked 4-2 victory to even up the series at a game apiece. Today they match up against Cub killer and Cardinal ace Matt Morris.

What: Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals
Where: Busch Stadium
When: Sunday, May 2, 1:10 CDT
Air (TV): WGN
Commentators: Chip Caray, Steve Stone
Probable Starters: Carlos Zambrano (2-1, 3.55) vs. Matt Morris (3-2, 4.50)

Pre-game Notes

After suffering one of the worst outings for a Cubs starter this year last Monday night in Arizona, Carlos Zambrano will look to get back on track against a dangerous St. Louis offense that was kept in check by Matt Clement last night. Clement allowed just one run on five hits through eight innings en route to his fourth straight win and first career victory against the Cardinals. Zambrano will also look for his first career win against the Cardinals, having gone 0-3 with a 4.01 ERA against them in five starts.

Cardinals ace Matt Morris gets the start today against the Cubs, which has only spelled trouble for the North siders in years past. Lifetime against the Cubs, Morris has simply been overwhelming, posting a 10-2 career record to go with a 3.42 ERA. A win against Morris, and ultimately a series win at Busch Stadium, would lift a tremendous monkey off the Cubs' back.

Who to Keep An Eye On

Moises Alou: The Cubs left fielder has hit Matt Morris to the tune of .348 lifetime in his career, including 2 HR and 11 RBI. Alou also has six doubles against Morris.

Corey Patterson: Patterson has hit Morris quite well in his career, going 8-for-17 with 2 HR and 4 RBI lifetime against the Cardinal right-hander.

Sammy Sosa: Career .313 hitter against Morris, with 3 HR and 8 RBI.

Tom Goodwin: 5-for-9 lifetime against Morris in mostly pinch-hit appearances, including three walks and four stolen bases.

Edgar Renteria: The gold glove shortstop has dominated Carlos Zambrano throughout his career, recording eight hits in 12 at-bat's lifetime. Fortunately, most of Renteria's damage has come without runners in scoring position, as he has only one RBI to go with those eight hits.

Jim Edmonds: 4-for-14 lifetime against Zambrano with a homerun.

Albert Pujols: Like Edmonds, Pujols has four hits in 14 at-bats lifetime against Zambrano. Pujols has four RBIs in that span.
