LHP Kent Mercker was unavailable for Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres after hurting a muscle in his back.

Macias, Jose
INF/OF Jose Macias has gone 11-for-20 in the Cubs' four-game winning streak. He replaced the injured Todd Walker, who replaced the injured Mark Grudzielanek.

Hollandsworth, Todd
OF Todd Hollandsworth went 2-for-3 Sunday to raise his average to .378. He replaced the injured Sammy Sosa (back spasms) in Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Padres.

Martinez, Ramon
INF Ramon Martinez chipped in with four hits during the Cubs' win streak. He has replaced injured shortstop Alex Gonzalez (fractured right wrist).

Wood, Kerry
RHP Kerry Wood (tight right triceps) threw off flat ground at Wrigley Field on Monday. He will throw two bullpen sessions in the next two days to determine if he will make Saturday's start against St. Louis.

Sosa, Sammy
RF Sammy Sosa said he is not sure when he will return to the lineup. He developed back spasms after sneezing before Sunday's game against San Diego. He will take it day-by-day until he feels 100 percent. OF Todd Hollandsworth took Sosa's spot in Sunday's 4-2 victory over San Diego and went 2-for-3 to improve his average to a .378.

Grudzielanek, Mark
2B Mark Grudzielanek is frustrated with the slow way his injury is healing. He said his return date could be anywhere from early June to after the All-Star break. He has a slight tear in his right Achilles tendon.

Mercker, Kent
LHP Kent Mercker was unavailable for Sunday's game because he hurt a muscle in his back. The Cubs hope he will be able to pitch against San Francisco on Tuesday.

Remlinger, Mike
LHP Mike Remlinger gave up three runs in two-thirds of an inning in his first rehab appearance. He is slated to throw an inning Tuesday night for Triple-A Iowa. Remlinger underwent shoulder surgery last October.
