Hawks Hyle named NWL Pitcher of the Week

Boise Hawks right-handed pitcher Michael Hyle was named today the Northwest League Pitcher of the Week by minorleaguebaseball.com.

Hyle, a 22nd-round draft pick out of the University of Georgia pitched five innings of relief last week, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He struck out eight batters - four in two innings against Tri-City, and four in three innings against Eugene, picking up his first career win on Saturday night in the Hawks 12-7 victory.

Tri-City infielder Jason Van Kooten was named NWL Hitter of the Week after hitting .448 with two homers and eight RBI.

Hyle is the second Boise player to earn the award - Darin Downs earned the first award back in June.
